hold on, if we all go back in history you will see that the first slaves were WHITE. slavery was began as a way for people to pay off their debts. not to mention that blacks sold each other into slavery. I don't feel its right but I have often heard black people say "we deserve (welfare, scholarhips, etc) because my ancestors were slaves." if they believe this, then everyone should be able to get these benefits, considering ALL of our ancestors were at one point slaves. I also feel that blacks are no longer the minority. look at schools these days, the white students are the minority. just some thoughts. take it or leave it, but don't argue with me cuz I won't put up with it. facts are facts.
Ehem. You are thinking of indentured servants. Yes, they did experience hardships somewhat similar to slaves but they could eventually obtain freedom. Plus you might notice that indentured servitude declined in the late 1600's and early 1700's when enslaving blacks became more profitable.
Africans sold other Africans to slavery but it was the whites' decision to treat them the way they did. Plus the African view of slavery is quite different than the American one. In Africa, a slave could buy his freedom, integrate into the other tribe's society and even marry. In America, a slave was a slave until s/he died. And blacks are in no way a majority.
There might be some schools in black neighborhoods where whites are a minority but overall, America is still overwhelmingly white.
And next time, please cite where you found your "facts".
