Man, i cannot believe people are stuck in the house -- never cooking food outside. I cook or grill out -- outside, all by myself, all the time, and i feed myself heaven.

A lot of times other people join me, because the scent of a grill is irresistable. today everyone was at work.

In the USA, well, it's a different society, but I see those "Travel channel" "Anthony... (whatever his name is...) and he gets to see how people live elsewhere. Can you imagine walking down the street to all those scents?

In the USA, we have to wait for a carnival or street fair to indulge in that. I want to move to another country, where people cook outside all the time.

What do you think?

It just aggravates me. In the USA -- you have to have a "Permit" (pay the government first) to cook and sell outside, but in other cultures -- they are free to sell food all day to each other. (Yet we call this a "free" country?)

I know there's a bunch of paranoid people out there -- who have to have everything perfect "boiled to the right temp", "refrigerated at the right temp", all the counters have to be absolutely "germ free" -- but you know what? That's a joke.

They lived for millions (or thousands) of years without the US Government dictating what they could do and not do without food... and yet in the USA today -- you CANNOT buy or sell cooked food without going thru the government first.

Give me that wonderful scent of outdoor cooking and no government regulation between the food and my belly. I want to eat, and if i die, i die. But at least it was good.

ahhhh the scent of meat on the grill

You are so right. We (family) were in Bolivia this summer. One day driving down the road we passed this guy who had this crazy big grill with like 20+ whole chickens or more roasting.

We weren't even thinking about food until we saw this guy. My wife and sister-in-law are like, "STOP THE CAR!!!" We were barely out of the car and our mouths were watering and our stomachs were chanting "BBQ, BBQ, BBQ!"

I bet the fish and chips weren't the only good things in Amsterdam, huh? But hey, you are absolutely right. Just try crossing the pond every now and again and you will always find all sorts of street fare whether it's grilled or otherwise. From Belgium to Brussels you can find something cooking on the streets whether it is a festival setting or just any ordinary day. 8) I have been to Tennessee, as well, and there are no shortage of great things off the grill there.
