I know
but you said
Motive is typically used as evidence to prove a crime, not to add time to your sentence.
and I was just saying, thats not totally true.
As it does have a pretty big part in what and how long you get sentenced with.

It's late and I'm tired. I didn't word that right. lol

So now we need to destroy more environment to build more prisons, find more people to run them, and make tax payers pay more.

Seems lousy to me.
Keeping a murderer alive is ridiculous.

Give me one good reason we should keep murderers alive.

i somehow doubt Americas going to run out of space for prisons.

and we've been over cost before, the death penalty costs *more* than life in prison.

why should we keep murderers alive?
its cheaper and it prevents accidental death penalty's happening.

First of all, I'm sorry to hear about your father. And no, I don't personally know what it feels like to lose a family member. These people do, though. I honestly can't say if I would feel any differently if I were in your/their position.

However I would imagine that if someone in my family were killed, killing another person would never be enough to heal the pain I felt.

Not to turn this into (another) debate on capital punishment, but just quickly...I'm a little uneasy with the state actually killing human beings, especially when such a system has resulted in the execution of innocent people. Capital cases are much more expensive than non-capital cases, and I feel like this money could be spent on things that actually work to deter crime, and/or on therapy for victims' and murderers' families.

To me, removing a convicted murderer from society through life imprisonment is enough. I don't really see the need to go the extra step and kill, while spending the extra money and risking the execution of innocent lives, when it doesn't really have any benefits.

It seems that with capital punishment, killing guilty people takes priority over protecting innocent people who get caught up in the system, and that's not the way our justice system should operate.

It's not like his death would totally heal me. But it'd make me feel better that my mom isn't paying to keep him alive. And I'm a huge supporter of "an eye for an eye".

He killed someone, and is connected to three other murders. After 4 deaths, something needs to be done.

I haven't lost a family member from the result of murder. But I can only imagine how it would feel. Imprisonment isn't enough because they still get to breath, they still get to eat, they still get to wake up in the morning, they still get to smile, and they still get outside visitors. They still get all these things that the murderer took from someone else. Unless every thing they took is taken away from them its just not enough.

Back to the Topic I think the dirty rotten bastard should most defaintly get the death penalty. He took every thing from this young black woman and he deserves to have everything right down to free oxygen taken from him.

The goal of the justice system is not to make relatives of victims happier.

"An eye for an eye" leaves everyone blind. It's not a foundation for our justice system.

Good Point. The "eye for an eye" saying is getting overused to make people feel justified in what they know is wrong.

Exactly, because we should only care that the criminal is always taken care of. Because you just don't know what they've been through. On the other hand the victims, well whatever who cares its always beside the point.
