Police dogs get shoes for "paw patrol"

Police dogs in the German city of Duesseldorf are being fited out with blue rubber shoes to protect their paws while walking the beat.

"The dogs aren't too keen yet, but with a few weeks' training they should be used to them," Andre Hartwich, a spokesman for the police in the western city, said Monday.

Hartwich said shards of glass and sharp objects get stuck between the cobbles of Duesseldorf's old town and are dangerous for the canine squad.

"The shoes will protect their paws on patrol," he said.

Some 20 German shepherds are being taught to walk and work with their new footwear in time for a police fashion show in March.

The blue synthetic rubber shoes, modeled on a design made for sled-pulling Canadian huskies, will got about 15 euros ($22.22) each, he said.

I remember trying to put shoes on my dog, she kicked them right off
Stil can't get her to wear them.

Had them here for a while, helps with needle, broken glass etc.

There is also dog cam, they are fitted with head cameras and look really cute.

I've love to put one of those on my dog to see what she does all day while I'm at work

Also would be good to see if anyone's been giving her table food

I try to put socks on my dog when he's got an owie, but he walks out of them. He's much better with wearing shirts.
