Doesn't have to be bad news, but any kid would probably be brought up by committee, constantly tested, observed and need to be protected from assorted zealots/madmen.

Then when the kids has any problems it will be the evil of cloning not upbringing.

Oh no! It'll be a soulless evil entity, in the image of satan himself!

Worse still, now the government doesn't need us - they can wipe us out and replace us with mindless subservient drones. Wait, what would be the change again?

Well they didn't let it grow into a human so it's no big deal.

But they will.

There is most definitely a very important moral and ethical debate to be had here.

Will cloned humans be afforded the rights of born humans? Will cloned humans be modified (dumbed down) in any way, such as to be used as a cheap labor force? Will clones be used for the armed forces, so we don't have to send "real people" into war? What are the morals of that? If we give life, does that give us the right to take it away? Are clones people or property? Is it possible to clone particular individuals? What of the matter of health care - could you clone yourself for spare parts? How about the religious aspect? Do clones have souls? Can a clone go to heaven? How about mixed clone/born marriages?

Sound like science fiction? So did cloning 25 years ago. And walking on the moon 50 years ago. And computers 100 years ago.

You think the abortion and stem cell debates were heated? In the words of Bachman-Turner Overdrive - you ain't see nothing yet...

How about cloning the great minds/leaders of the world so they can continue their "great" work? Who decides who is great?

If they are cloned humans, shouldn't they be afforded the same rights as any human? Jsut because it's a clone it wouldn't be any less human, correct?
