Say thank you to the labour government for the new class "the benifits class"...

Its so easy for people to go on the dole, in fact i hear that some parents pass the secrets down from generation to generation to stay on benifits..

I think if Labout wants to get more people into work, they're going to have to decrease benefits to below the minimum wage, or introduce a cap on the amount you can claim.

They had what 13-14 years to sort this out... come on... they are now feeling the burn for there stupidity but have no idea how to solve it.. Instead they increase tax on the lower end of the scale of salary.. and then the MPs moan they need a 10% pay raise.. and wont give the police 2%... this gov is a joke..

Seems to me the issue that needs to be addressed is immigration, and an understanding of way those jobs were not taken by the citizens.

I work in recruitment, i speak to and receive many emails from foriegn people. there skills and education and work ethic is next to amazing. as the thread states at the start the british people are favouring benifits, they are failed by a system that only wants educated people. And not all people in the UK are educated or are left behined by increase in technology... not to mention the youngesters of today aint ready for the working world when the leave education. I say that from a person that professionally puts people into work within the engineering world. I right now have 14 people starting next monday, and 2 are brits. the company in question highers whats good for business.

That doesn't sing high praises of the British people.

You say that, but as the article mentions, it's the Britons choosing not to work cos they can get benefits. And some immigrants are good members of society who pay their taxes and who contribute in other ways. Record numbers of Britons are moving to the US and Australia every year - why should we deny immigrants the same right? My family all come from the Caribbean. My mum was a nurse here from the time she was 16. She worked for the NHS for 30 years and was a childminder about 5. She contributed to society without being villified. I can't understand why immigrants these days get such a bad rep.
