is this discrimination ?

i dont want to offend anyone but.... on the people from other contries getting more help then us, where i work it is mainly mexicans and most of them arent citizen, this one girl was going for her citizenship and she was expecting it to be hard, like a huge test and stuff. so she goes and fills out all of the paperwork and they give her an answer key and tell her to study it. so she comes back and we all help her study and when they date come she goes and has to answer like two or three questions from the paper, now isnt that easy, also when i was in high school and deciding on a language to take everyone was all take spanish because you'll need it here in texas.. but y should i have to take a language just because people are moving into my country, so i took french and my teacher said that when you go over to france they expect you to try to speak their language well we dont even do that. its the same with college, if you have some kind of deffect then you get paid college. my cousin couldnt get loans or grant or anything then 2 yrs later she has a kid and is a single parent now she has a full paid college. so i guess i have to wait until i have a kid to go to school. i dont know but it just seem like we have our prioritys mixed up

I think it's OK for Muslims to wear shawls if they attended a school where there is no certain dress code (like a public school). However, I don't think they should get away with wearing them if they wanted to attend a private Catholic or Buddhist school because, in my opinion, it is being inconsiderate of the school's religious values. You might as well go to a private Muslim school

but it is a public school...and if the laws governing the school dont require a dress code then uniforms are not required.The student cannot be suspended for wearing jeans and t-shirt
This is a civil matter which can be proceeded in a County Court since the administration of schools are a municipal function regulated by provencial statutes.
Of course it would be costly to pursue but if any person with a little law knowledge can no doubt win the suit
Furthermore a school can define inappropriate dressing that is too self revealing or contains inappropriate gestures but cannot force a student to purchase and wear a uniform.
This is only in the proactise of Catholic schools where strict conformity is a condition to be part of the school functioning and society. What the school is stating is that they will not tolerate any rebellius or illegal activity which will influence the educational or sociological structure of the school.
Since Catholic schools are seperate boards they are not required to follow the regulations of Public School Statutes.The parents of the children who go to Catholic schools pay good money for school uniforms and are themselves making a statment of rebellous activities which will not be tolerated within thier family lifestyle.

As long as ALL religous clothing is allowed then they've got their bases coverd. I personally thought that public schools leave religion at the door and there for should not allow any religous clothing if they have a uniform, if people don't like it they should send their kids to a religous school.

A public school cannot prevent a student from wearing a shawl nor can a student be made to wear a uniform except for physical education.
A private or semi-private school can prevent someone from wearing religous wear and have all thier students wear a conformity uniform. The fact is that if its in the code to wear a uniform then the student has to wear it.If the parent doesnt like it then the parent can either send thier student to a public school or go back to the country they came from.
Plain and simple.
This is Canada and we have statutes that make the laws of the land.If you dont like it then do something about it

Thats not true of the UK, a uniform is a must in all public schools.
