Anti Drink campaigns are not working which has been said by state funded research https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/12/10/nalcohol110.xml Apparently the "young people" as the put it, think that it is cool to come home slaughtered or wake up in a strange place. Its a gauge to tell them that it was a good night.. despite all the health risks the Government shout out about..

Well that's interesting, if they went on the street and talked to people they could have told you that, but instead Tax payers money are poured into adverts where they are actually going to have an adverse effect.. I seriously think these campaigners or state funded campaigns are in some sort of delusional world where they think, advertising drunken "young people" will actually make "young people" think... yet the alcohol problem in the UK is not found in "young people" but in older men https://www.ic.nhs.uk/webfiles/publications/alcoholeng2007/Statistics%20on%20Alcohol-England%202007v6.pdf

Older people were more likely to drink regularly ? 28% of men and 18% of women aged 45-64 drank on five or more days in the week prior to interview compared to 10% of men and 5% of women aged 16-24. Younger people were more likely to drink heavily, with 42% of men and 36% of women aged 16-24 drinking above the daily recommendations, compared to 16% of men and 4% of women aged 65 and over.

Strange "young people" get the hammering again but yet its the people giving the abuse is the problem...

What's the question?

This happens in all aspects of society I believe. Crime, bad with finances, skimpy clothes etc. All blamed on us poor youngens.

Oh okay no worries Mark

I totally agree with you. When I used to catch the train to work there was this old man who used to carry on and on and on about how things were in "his day". He would nit pick at the school students who got on and said stuuuuuuuupid things like "in my day we used to ring ahead if there was a large group getting on the train so they could put an extra carriage" and I'm thinking what the HELL they're just minding their own business trying to get home from school!!

People always look at their own generation through rose coloured glasses and unfortunately then subsequent generations cop the brunt of it. Including politicians and people in advertising.

Not fair

Oh and as for drinking - a lot of people of all ages have drinking problems it's just that teens seemed to be noticed more.

I do agree Mark, but there is alot of underage drinking taking place everywhere, and underage sex.

I honestly think that these kids hear their parents talking about being drunk etc when they where young, where they went for a sneaky smoke or drink and they feel that as their parents did it so can they.

Also alot of pressure from other kids who have been there, done that got the tee shirt.

In Marburg (germany) , they have forbidden drinking poeple in the innercity, between 6 in the evening and 7 o`clock in the morning, because the neighbors was disturbed of these, the citizenmaster said, " drunken children and teens".
This is no solution for the problems of this poeple what drinks. It`s only for to calm down the citizens. They can further think, what I don`t see is not existend. He was talking very proud about this decision on reginal TV.
