I made a point about this in another post this morning and thought it would make a good topic starter (sorry if this has been done befor)

what are your viwes on kids today ? Are we just turning into our folks echoing their words of "when I was young....and in my day blah blah .." or has it got out of hand? I think it is the latter, as older as I have got I am still quite laid back and very young minded lol...

anyway back to the point, kids have no respect, we as parents and teachers have had our rights to discipline them taken away from us.

Im intrested to hear your veiws and opinions.

i agree entirely
the power to control children has gone out the window
a huge amount of youngsters today have no moral direction no sense of direction
the whole kids having kids thing is also having an effect on me it seems acceptable and not having a clue how to raise there children dousnt seem to bother the population and the whole thing has gone to pot
the police force no longer have power i have witnessed this myself a government who doussnt care out of control teens are running riot and adults who dont care or do and are powerless to restrain and control them for fear of the law acting on themselves
its a dissgrace

I think its a down hill spiral from now on.

With punishment being taken out of our hands, how the hell would you cope with a rebelious teenager???

the kids having kids point is spot on, they see it as a get out claus to getting a job and standing on their own 2 feet, they see it as a red card to get themselves a house, they will drag their kids up on the state and their kids in turn will be having babies before leaving school!

This country has gone to pot and I doubt very much it will ever get better, when I was at school, I got caught nicking sweets, the headmaster gave me the cain over my hand, but i was more scared of going home to face the music from my parents, thru fear and total respect to my parents.

My kids are now 17 and 21, so thankfully I do not face the worry of them threatining to call social services if I so much as raised my hands to them...but with hindsite and looking back, if they were younger now, id pass them the phone and dial the number for them lolI as a mother should have the right to disciplin my child,im not talking about beating them, i did smack mine and send them to teir rooms, and it did them no harm!!

who do the Goverment think they are, what do they think they have done here, it makes me so mad, kids have rights over their parents, kids have too many rights, and at the end of the day they are just that "kids"

I feel for the parents of younger kids today! And teachers deserve a medal, how they cope with the mouthy yobs in class is beyound me, I wouldnt last 1 day! Do you kbnow that if a child is being disruptive in class, the teacher has lost the right to take him/her by the arm and march him out of class....yes, he/she has to call for help,(a witness) because if he/she so much as touches the child, it is classed as ABUSE what the f*** is going on here?!!!

You make it sound like its a premeditated thought. That most teens plan to get pregnant so they dont have to work and get a house. I very much doubt thats the case.

I think its more to do with lack of education on the subject which appears to be becoming more frequent on a vary of subjects in this country.

If people have issues with young parents etc perhaps action should be taken to ensure they dont get such a good free ride.

sadly its not up to the people, and what can be done anyway...?there is enough education on sex, contraception etc, its free to obtain, there is no excuse, this isnt the 70's!

The reason Kids are like they are is because of the nanny state we are in. We all look to the government to do stuff for us all. We cant hit our kids.. we cant disapline our kids.. teachers aint aloud to shout at them anymore.. yet the people are to blame isnt the government for all this its us..

I think a TV program called "legally hit your kids" should be made, where the parents fly there kids to a place that it is legal to hit there kids and do it. j/k

Jokes aside. The problem as i see it is poor parenting. Yes the baby doesnt come with an instruction manual. but if you want to be a parent compulsory classes i think are need. Then routine checks after that, either that or stop asking the government for help everytime these single mums cant cope or you see a kid in a park beating a cat with a stick. More we complain to the government about things and pass the buck, the more likely they will bring stupid laws like not disaplining children, and even stupider future laws like parent classes and one day licence to breed or something.

I do punish my kids if they cross there boundaries in school or at home! I don't give a stuff what the government wants for our children at the end of the day if there are no rules with bringing up children they will just run riot and not know whats right from wrong.

is it china that have the one child law? they can have more of course but you get a very hefty fine...im not saying we should go to that extreme....but maybe a new polici that the goverment will not provide for teens having babies....it will soley be down to the teens parents to finance the baby...maybe it would act as a deterant ,maybe not, i can feel im going to be jumped on here for that lol....so im of to hide lol

No theres not. Not here anyway. Yes you can get contraception free but thats not educating people on the subject.

I wouldnt just take something without knowing about it.

I think you will be suprised. No offence but youve been out of school for a few years. I can tell you that my sex and drug education was practically non existant. I can also tell you im not the only person that shares this view,
I have had discussions with people of varied age, including still in school who think its rubbish. They "learn" more in the playground or at home.

such as?

there is plenty out there educating youngsters about contraseption...ask any 12/13 year old I bet they could tell you more than I lol kids today are more more streetwise than some give them credit for....

I myself eductaed both my kids about it, and as they grew older, I made sure there was comdoms in drawers around the house....told them, only when you are ready, but make sure you use them....my son has actually come to me when his has run out lol

yes I was a mum they could turn to, not many kids have that, but there are clinics where they can obtain them for free, and the girls to go on the pill...
there is no excuse for teen pregnancy these days, maybe the odd one but not all...like I say we aintin the 70's...

why the hell should you control a child?! i agree that disciplining is difficult especially for teachers etc but you should never 'control' another human being it's wrong. Basically its the parents job to teach them right from wrong and that doing something wrong has consequences, not to get the kids to do whatever they want.
