The woman I have worked with is retiring on Friday and I need some ideas as to what to get her.

The gift will be presented to her from the Squadron(I work in a Territorial Army unit) and we have about ?100

The civilian staff here are getting her some shopping vouchers so we want it to be different from that.

So far she is recieving a caricature, a retirement cup and a newspaper article from the day she started work.

One suggestion I've had so far is a piece of Crystal, I just want to have a few more ideas

Oh and I need to be able to get it by tomorrow night so some things won't be possible

If she is up for a laugh you could do what my broter in law did when he did a retirement presentation in his work.

They are forever getting crystal gifts from the management for safety prizes etc so when Martin walked up to the guy retiring he said. "Look I know your sick of geting crystal presents but that's what they wanted to give you today" Then he stopped. "But I know you just don't want more crystal and this is what I think of the present" Then he smashed the gift wrapped box onto the floor to the sound of breaking glass. Not to be a man to do half a job he picked it up and smashed it down again.

The manager nearly fainted. Then Martin handed over the gift cheque as they had agreed and lifted the box full of broken milk bottles away.

I've been given another idea by someone who has worked with her the longest and that is a doulton (he thinks it's doultons ) figurine called Linda but I'm having problems locating it on the net

Would suggest a framed photo of all the members of your Squadron but that would be a bit hard to get by tomorrow night

It wouldn't actually be that hard as there are alot floating around on the walls etc but I don't think she'd be very happy if we gave her that !

what i might suggest is getting a glass engraved with her name and the years she's worked for, it's personal, it shows you care and realise the time she's worked and it shows you've actually done more than get gift vouchers!

Well we've just been in to town for an hour and got her some crystal glasses from Debenhams. They are really nice. We have also got her a chocolate champagne bottle with an iced personnel message. Going to get some flowers tomorrow as well
