"Terrorist" acts cited by Iran's parliament included the U.S. Army's use of atomic bombs against Japan in World War II, its use of depleted uranium munitions in the Balkans, Afghanistan, Iraq and its use of torture against prisoners in Guantanamo Bay detention camp in Guant?namo Bay, Cuba and Abu Ghraib Prison in Iraq. Iran's parliament also cited the CIA's role in training the Mujahideen during the Soviet Union's occupation of Afghanistan.

They not only label the CIA as terrorists, but also the U.S. Army.

If the US Army is a terrorist organisation, then every other state-funded military should be too.

Why should every other state-funded military be considered a terrorist organisation? They gave some pretty specific examples there, not every country's military has been involved in things like that!

aha, good old iran, joining in the mud slinging match, of course the CIA and the american military have been committing atrocities, particularly in the middle east, but hey britain doesn't come out of this so cleanly either. i think if there were a war crimes trial to be held for every nation that had committed crimes during war time then we would need one hell of a big courthouse and jail.
however, notwithstanding america's human rights abuses, guantanamo bay being a particularly big issue, america does have an elected government and is not a religious regime, though the fact that there are christian fundamentalist politicians in the whitehouse is a tad unnerving.
ahmadinejad may appear to have been voted in, but that is far from the truth, the country is ruled by a religious supreme council that cannot be voted either in or out. ahmadinejad is just a puppet.
i have big problems with the foreign policies of governments in both america and britain but i know for a fact where i would rather live.

One man's soldier is another man's terrorist. Soldiers rely on terror to achieve their objectives.

Provides you with an interesting perspective, doesn't it? I think it's a good idea to look at the western world through islamistic eyes from time to time. F*** knows why, but why not?

yeah i agree, it is good to see the western world through the eyes of the middle east, or any other part of the world. we may not like what we see but it could make us aware of a few uncomfortable truths.
i just hate it when someone is in denial with regard to the atrocities their nation has committed and blames everything on terrorists.

Oh, but the terrorists are responsible for everything! Just last week they unscrewed all my light bulbs and overfed the fish.

Because the way the prisoners are treated would be considered immoral on US soil?

the thing is, and i have encountered this on other forums, people take sides, one side says that israel is right to bomb palestinians into the ground and the other side says that palestinians are right to blow up israelis, both sides put forward passionate arguments but neither side sees that their side is as much at fault as the other side. on forums where there are a lot of US members there tends to be much more of this 'taking sides' mentality. the 'you're either with us or agin us' type attitude which makes it impossible to have a balanced debate. for instance if i were to mention 'guantanamo bay' and the abuses of human rights by the US government, a member would come back at me saying that i support osama bin laden and the terrorist attacks on 9/11.
of course i condemn iran for its human rights abuses, and restrictive laws, but equally i condemn my own government and the US government for messing up big time in the middle east.

its just more goading of America,
same as all the other stuff. it does point out though how the word 'terrorist' can mean anything you want it to.

terrorism;
1. the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, esp. for political purposes.

(that couldn't be our governmens at all )

it sickens me that the word has been used to drum up so much fear and support for invading or attacking other nations.

didn't the u.s government say that they decided to stop using that form of torturing (can't remember what it is called), makes you wonder what other forms of torture they do
