I want to stage a protest against tution fees.....just because i think it's bollocks and us students need to get our arses out and protest, especially if theres going to be a general election next year we need to get our voices heard!!!!

omg, tutitions fees for uni i'm on about tbh i dont see why we should have to pay for our higher education when they were abolished because it was thought that people should go to uni because they were suitable candidates because they were the best suited not because they could affordn to go.

and fyi i've never been on the dole, due to being 17 and nore have my parents so why don't you stfu on things you dont know and pressume

She isnt on the dole and never has been, she works and goes to college and it is hard work. If you have nothing intelligent to say why dont you go talk to the wall, its about the same IQ as you are and you might learn something.

It costs a huge, huge amount of real money to give someone a college education.

Think of the incredible amount of resources available to you and used by you on a daily basis at college (if you've been to college). College education in the US is in large part *heavily* funded by public money - i.e., taxes. Private education is much more expensive because the taxpayers aren't picking up 75% of the tuition.

Nothing is free. Someone has to pay those workers, pay for the teachers, pay for the research, pay for the buildings, pay for the sports, etc etc etc.

You just think it should be *everyone else* that pays for it instead of you?

On the subject of tuition fees, I have no problem with the government subsidising tuition fees with tax payers money, it should help improve the country in the long run.

over here it's expensive to do anything and on average peolpe are leaving uni, having finished undergraduate degrees with over ?30 000 of debt...and about half of that is tution fees based on a 4 year course.

it's not quite what i meant, but basically theres tutition fees and top up fees and they're set to rise in the future, so the purpose of abolishing these thigns was that candidates witht he best grades and the best potential got into uni not those who could afford to go and it's just reverting.

They can't just "abolish" fees. The government can foot the bill for kids to go to college, but it's expensive and the money has to come from somewhere.

Ultimately, you're asking for the people who live near you to pay for you to go to college.

it's the top up fees that i dont like, i mean tbh i know people can't be paid for entirely but just pisses me off that people are being excluded because of financial situations...

If you started your course before September 2006
For students who started before September 2006 - and many who started in September 2006 after taking a gap year in 2005/2006 - the maximum contribution towards tuition fees is ?1,255 in 2008/2009 and ?1,225 in 2007/08.

That is one hell of a jump!

i dont think the tuition fees are that bad tbh, i know i sound mad lol but you can get a student loan and you only pay it back when you are earning over ?15,ooo and only 9% a week (about a fiver) and if after 25 years its not paid back..written off. so f i et a good job at the end of my course i dont think i will miss the fiver lol also new students starting in 2008 have the choice to have a 5 year break from paying back the loan once they are working

If you don't want to get a loan and be obligated to pay for your own education, then don't go to college and get a job.

Going to college is an investment in your future. If you want the advantages of going to college without the disadvantage of having to pay for it at some point.. then you're just a freeloader looking for a handout.
