Not necessarily.

Buddhism, for one, does not worship a higher being. The Buddha did not say whether a higher being exists, in fact; he simply said to not deal with it.

The Church of Satan loudly states that there is no higher power.

You make the Church of Satan sound an awful lot like humanism/atheism.

If you turn away from the concept of a higher being, you're still left with a spiritual world the soul can get in touch with. That's basically what buddhism is about, and it still maintains a belief in something beyond the material world we initially live in.

You can make all religions the same by using semantics.

It's an easy thing to do, you just decide what everybody "really" means by translating their concepts into another language structure.

Ten commandments may be called "moral guidelines" perhaps, the five pillars, and the satanic version of the ten commandments too, all religions have things that can be seen as "moral guidelines"(though varyingly differing morals in each case). By translating all religions into this new conceptual language you can show that they are all the same.

In my opinion this isn't really a truthful way to see it though, as the conclusion is inevitable due to the nature of the translation.

I personally believe we have nothing in common except choice.

The Church of Satan is a lot like humanism and atheism.

Buddhism maintains something out of the material world, but it says to not worship it, which was the question asked by whoever, whether every religion worshipped a higher being.

There are two major kinds of religions: Right Hand Path and Left Hand Path.

Right Hand religions seek the destruction of the individual ego either through merging with a universal whole (such as Buddhist Nirvana), or through subjugation to a higher power. RHP religions tend to be more "mainstream"

Left Hand religions seek to raise the individual to a higher status while maintaining separateness and avoiding subjugation to any "higher" being. LHP religions are often esoteric and associated with the occult.

Is it not possible to believe in God and not celebrate Christmas? Only Christians celebrate Christmas in the sense that it is the celebration for the birth of Christ.

Don't other religions, ones that don't believe that Christ is God, believe in some sort of God?

The jehovas witnesses call them selves cristians but don't celebrate crhistmas or any other holiday. They believe in christ but the bible never said exactly when he was born also reserch into the past places the roots of christmas firmly in pegan traditions. Traditions where people sacrificed others and put up decorations to keep evil spirits away. The JW's also believe that if your bad nothing more will happen to you then what already happens. You die and decompose in the ground never to be conscious again. If you become baptised in the religion (which actually takes years of study and a verbal test), then you will be saved which means you will live on the earth forever as a perfect human after armageddon. As far as heven and hell only 144'000 will go to heaven as stated in revelations. And hell is nly for demons and satan. Also I should mention that there is a way to follow a timeline in the bible up to jesuses birth which if followed suggests that jesus was born in spring. Did I mention that they are bible scholers? they have 3 meetings a week one of wich is a bible study where they go through every book of the bible 1 by 1 discussing the meaning of every single verse. Also the main talk or "sermon" if you will is always the same all across the world for that week.

I believe there is one true religion and it is different from any other religion. It worships the one true God - Jehovah.

Because in the origional dead sea scrolls he told his followers to use the name jehovah to distinguish him from all other false gods.

All popular religions are divided by purely superficial differences. They all have the same basic criteria:

1. A belief in supernatural beings or events, usually a creator/judge deity and demiurges.

2. Collective or solitary liturgical worship, including festivals.

3. Buildings or structures of religious purpose and significance.

4. Human figures of religious siginificance, eg. prophets.

5. 'Moral' rules or guidelines.

The differences between religions are irrelevant and almost aesthetic, and yet religious people tend to be very hostile towards members of other religions. This uniformity of religious belief systems strongly supports the notion of religion being a part of human nature, an evolved mental mechanism.
