I don't care if this is "technically legal" this is still disgusting.

Your thoughts.

I can't believe they gave consent! If I had a 16 year old daughter, I would never allow her to marry. This is not the dark ages! 16 year old girls should not be getting married! They should be growing and discovering themselves, having fun, making the most of life! I'm not saying that you can't be married and have fun, but what if in a few years she wanted to travel the world or something . . . . Plus, I think that eventually the age gap will begin to show.

How can her parents say they had no choice?! Its kind of sickening, considering all this started when she was only 14 . . . and he was 38.

That's just wrong. They didn't have to sign the consent forms, that's where they went wrong. If it was me, I'd have pulled her out of school, I'd have moved across the country if I had to, no child of mine is gonna marry anyone when she's 16. Until she's 18, my rules are the law, and that's that. Her parents didn't take control of the situation.

The actions of her parents are astounding... they should have come down on her with an iron fist. Once it was discovered that she was sending text messages to an adult man until the wee hours of the night... any and all connection with the man should have been severed.

Thats just wrong. if that was my daughter she would be locked in her room until she was 30. I dont think the parents tried hard enough, cause if they did, chances are their 16 year old daughter wouldnt be married to a 40 yr old man right now.

Yes, because forcibly stopping a teenager from doing what they want always works.

A teenager might not realize the repercussions of their actions, and until they know better (after they are taught), it is best to take preventative actions.
