Not sure if everyone knows this, but I'll say it anyway.

When your about to chew a stick of Stride gum, chew the wrapper too. Gross, no chew it, it may be stiff at first but you'll get a longer lasting flavor. I chewed the same piece for 45 minutes without losing flavor

The wrapper I think, I don't know where my friend came up with this. I think the wrapper keeps more flavor in with spit. Beats me.

I've done that with some Wrigley gum. I forget the exact type though, as it was a few years ago.

But the wrapper is paper and dissolves into the gum. It doesn't really affect the taste at all it just makes it tougher to chew so I stopped doing it as it's kind of pointless

"The Edible Wrapper"
A secret of Stride gum is that you can eat the wrapper with the gum in it. The wrapper eventually dissolves and makes the gum a much darker color. This applies to all flavors of Stride gum, but the blue has the most noticeable effect. It is not known if this was done by accident or a secret made to be discovered by the consumer.

It's only edible because it's some kind of rice paper that's also used for some chinese candies. You shouldn't eat just any gum wrappers. Real paper has all kinds of chemicals and crap in it you wouldn't want to eat.
Some gum companies still use candy paper, but Stride stopped using edible paper because of some bad media attention and now they use regular paper I think. If you ask them directly they'll tell you not to eat it.

Thats because the reason for the paper is to protect the gum from getting dirty. It is really unsanitary to eat the wrapper.
