Muslim is not a religion.. A muslim is a follower of the Islam religion. Just wanted to throw that out there.

Ok if God has no gender...and I'm kinda leaning towards this too...at least I think he is more a spirit than a flesh and blood entity and is thus genderless, we refer to him as He though, which Saladin also did, so I dunno why the gender of God is an issue.
Ummm dunno where I was going with that.....I'm sleepy, and just kinda been a wierd night..meh.

Oh that's right. Islam is the religion. Thanks, it's late and I don't think coherantly all the time.

Saladin, it sounds like you have a well-grounded faith. I fear I would be arrogant to think I know enough about the world's other religions to try and guess.

Hanvey, I struggled with the gender of God issue before myself. I'm quite convinced God is indeed genderless, but we call Him "Him" because God has always appeared in male form in all recorded instances, and always refers to Himself as "Himself".

So, if God refers to Himself as "Him", who am I to argue?

On another point, I don't think it would do Him much glory to call Him "It", so that only leaves us with two other choices. If it were the other way, we'd all be questioning why we used the female term.

Saladin, I like your belief system. It seems initially impartial(children), and has resolution for the variety of souls on the earth.

I don't know what your religion is. I also don't have an answer for why jesus came when he did. I don't adhere to the christian system, sadly I am sure to my demise.

I believe that evolution, and creationism are part and parcel. We have been created to evolve, yes this include our views of the world and of god.

Yes. I'm a follower of Islam.

Actually, as you probably already know, the word used for God in Arabic is Allah. If you ever read the english translations of the Quran, you'll notice they still use Allah instead of God because(although I'm not a fluent Arabic speaker) I know that the name Allah has no gender or plural. Even Christians in Egypt, Lebanon, Turkey, etc. tend to use Allah rather than God.

I'm going to guess you are a Muslim. The reason for this guess is:

1. You didn't mention salvation through Jesus Christ

I understand what you mean. But just out of curiousity, why didn't you think I was Jewish?

I think so too. If you don't mind, I just happened to read verses yesterday that I'd like to mention which gives a description of God. I think it speaks for itself.....

{God! there is no god but He the living, the Self-subsisting, the Eternal. No slumber can seize Him nor sleep. His are all things in the heavens and on earth. Who is there that can intercede in His presence except as He permits? He knows what [appears to His creatures as] before or after or behind them. Nor shall they compass aught of His knowledge except as He wills. His throne extends over the heavens and the earth and He feels no fatigue in guarding and preserving them. For He is the Most High, the Supreme [in glory].} (Verse 2:255)

{God is the Light of the heavens and earth; and the similitude of His Light is as a Niche in which is a Lamp enclosed in a Glass like a brilliant star; [the Lamp is] lit from a blessed Tree, an Olive, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil is very luminous, though fire has not touched it. Light upon Light! God does guide whom He wills to His Light: And God sets forth parables for men; and He is the Knower of all things.} (Verse 24:25)

Indeed.
