I recently bought an "Acoustic Solutions CD/Radio with MP3 Playback" which I took to mean that it could play my mp3 player. It has no port for it though. Is there any way I can play my mp3 player through the car like I used to when I had a tape deck?

not a cd player

Many thanks!

The Halfords thing sounds most attractive (as I'd electrocute myself trying to fit the other thing) does it suffer from interference?

The FM transmitter will work, but there may be a better solution.

What kind of car stereo do you have?

If you have some provision for an external input, you'll get better sound quality and you won't have to hunt for radio stations if you drive out of town and find the channel you're using has a real radio station on it.

From where you will have it, which will probably next to you then no. The aerial on my cars are at the back, with me at the front (obviously) and it has no intereferance at all, except for when the batteries get low - but it comes with a cigarette adaptor thing anyway

from a salesperson's point of view

there are a couple of different ways of doing it but it depends on the type of cd-player that you have purchased and seeing as though you dont have a Tape Player integrated into it that rules out one solution...

then seeing as though you dont have an Auxiliary input that inturn rules out another way

leaving the final solution which would be to use an FM Transmitter.. these can be good and bad depending on the brand and type that you purchase.. i stronly recommend the type that does not run on batteries but in fact runs off the cigarette lighter... this will allow it to work smoother without worry about running out of battery power!!

then the next step is to find one that allows you to fine tune the frequency that it runs on... you can get ones that only allow 1-5 set frequency changes but they are too limiting as there might be interference on those channels... i would suggest that you purchase one that has a tunable frequency setter (set your own frequency) and that runs off the cigarette lighter!!

He was talking about the CD player, not the car's head unit.

He expected his new CD player to have some provision to allow him to play his MP3 player through it.

At least, that's how I read it.

Actually, now that I reread it maybe the CD player is actually a new head unit. Hm.
