Al Gore's Personal Energy Use Is His Own "Inconvenient Truth"
By Nicole Williams (02/27/07)

Gore?s home uses more than 20 times the national average - Last night, Al Gore?s global-warming documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, collected an Oscar for best documentary feature, but the Tennessee Center for Policy Research has found that Gore deserves a gold statue for hypocrisy.

Gore?s mansion, located in the posh Belle Meade area of Nashville, consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year, according to the *Nashville Electric Service (NES).

In his documentary, the former Vice President calls on Americans to conserve energy by reducing electricity consumption at home.

The average household in America consumes 10,656 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year, according to the Department of Energy. In 2006, Gore devoured nearly 221,000 kWh -- more than 20 times the national average.

Last August alone, Gore burned through 22,619 kWh -- guzzling more than twice the electricity in one month than an average American family uses in an entire year. As a result of his energy consumption, Gore?s average monthly electric bill topped $1,359.

Since the release of An Inconvenient Truth, Gore?s energy consumption has increased from an average of 16,200 kWh per month in 2005, to 18,400 kWh per month in 2006.

Gore?s extravagant energy use does not stop at his electric bill. Natural gas bills for Gore?s mansion and guest house averaged $1,080 per month last year.

?As the spokesman of choice for the global warming movement, Al Gore has to be willing to walk the walk, not just talk the talk, when it comes to home energy use,? said Tennessee Center for Policy Research President Drew Johnson.

In total, Gore paid nearly $30,000 in combined electricity and natural gas bills for his Nashville estate in 2006.

Does he "need" a huge house like that? If he's going to try to force his global warming and energy reduction crap down someone's throat shouldn't he follow what he recommends?

Since when did you care about the environment. I thought that would go against your evil republican ethos?

I don't, but he claims he does. If he does, why in the hell is he wasting this much energy? Do as I say and not as I do.....

BTW, I'm not Republican.

Clearly this invalidates everything contained within his film.

Either that or it's completely irrelevant to the message.

I'm not sure which.

Awwww, I wanted to comment on that one. Damn. I'll respect that.

YOUR NOT A REPUBLICAN What are you, a libertarian? or what? I am confused. But good job on not being a republican.

As for Gore, Figures. He has never been concerned about the environment, only the money the lecutre circuit brings him.

Well he is a hypocrite but at least hes trying to get people to improve the enviroment and the fact that he is a hypocrite dosn't make what he says about global warming any less true. So even though he dosn't want to do his part personally the silver lining on this cloud is that hes trying to save the planet on a larger scale lvl.

Oh, but that's assuming what he says about global warming is true (man made or natural?). Just because Al Gore has made a documentry using the evidence he wants to show you to prove his and only his point, does not mean he has it right.

There is evidence supporting both sides, Thus the debate.

I was being sarcastic about her changing the subject. Talking about Al Gore's hypocrisy and she starts whining about his loss in 2000.

Yah but there is alot of undisputible evidence that he dosn't mention is his movie. Like the way we have changed the north atlantic oscillation and the problems that brings. No one can dispute mans distructive controbution to global warming. Saying it's more natural then man made is like saying gravity dosn't exist. All im saying even as a hypocrite hes still doing more for the enviroment then alot of people. And beside hes a poloitician is it that big a suprise that hes a hypocrite?

If he's going to tell me what to do he should be doing the same thing himself. If he's unwilling to make a sacrifice for his cause, don't expect me to.

Not only that, but do these scientists take into account the sun is getting warmer? Since the sun is getting hotter wouldn't it make sense that the earth would be getting hotter?
