The programme about the couple who are both blind with 6-7 children... apparently the 9 yr old and the 12 yr old girls look after their 4 younger brothers, and the 9yr old attempted suicide last year! There was mention in the paper that there's a 14 yr old brother who does help out sometimes but isn't always around.

And the parents talk about how they had loads of children so they'd be looked after! They refuse social services help and their 12 yr old girl is basically the mother and father to her brothers and sister! That's all just from the adverts.... I think it sounds appalling!

It does sound really interesting.,...... but it's definitely on the side of gruesome viewing. It's on at 9 tonight..... part of the same series that showed the dwarfism thing last week.

I think the only reason I know about this is because I read the metro everyday at the moment. I'm up to date for once in news and politics!

there was some mention of it on the radio today. when the 12 year was asked about wanting her own family and children she said no way. she has already raised a family.
that is so sad and tragic

Do you say 6-7 because some of them aren't always around or do the parents not actually know how many they had and just gave the people a rough estimate?

i said 6-7 because one thing i read mentioned 6 children and another mentioned 7... but in fact the boy (the 7th child) was another young carer, different family, different story
