Know thou of a truth that the soul, after its separation from the body, will continue to progress until it attaineth the presence of God, in a state and condition which neither the revolution of ages and centuries, nor the changes and chances of the world, can alter. -Baha?u?llah, Gleanings, p.155.

How is it that the same looking cells-
with the same genetic blueprint-
early in the development of the human
embryo become different tissues?
It?s one of the greatest puzzles in biology.
The recipies are genes; the cookbook
is the chromosomes and the chefs the
protein molecules on DNA which switch
genes on and off.

How is it that the same looking people
with the same basic human physiology
for the first phase of their existence-
some four score years and ten-
have such different soul experiences
after their separation from the body?
It?s one of the greatest puzzles in
the history of religion, philosophy
and theology. The recipies are the
specific theologies of the afterlife;
the cookbooks the Holy Writings
of the great religious traditions
and the chefs the prophetic Teachers.

If there is a recipe then i think it is something that cannot be contemplated nor understood by mankind. If not then it will have to be a chain of incidental random effects.

It is interesting. I contemplate it often...it's one of the great mysteries of existence.

another "god of the margins" argument

since we cant currently explain "this" then thats what god did.

Why not take the wiser position and just say, "i dont currently have the understanding to know this". Science will eventually show how this all works. So stop blaming god for all that we cant currently prove with science. it limits man-kind way too often with this kind of thinking.

So as not to sound completely negative within this post. i will say that as far as poems go. its not a bad poem.

After more than 2 and 1/2 years I think it's time I at least acknowledged these responses. thanks folks; the subject matter is difficult and like many issues in life it will keep us busy until we pass from this mortal coil.

Just because you figure something out scientifically doesn't disprove God's hand in it. At best, you've just figured out how he did it. But God has already been credited with creating the whole universe and all of existance period, no advance in science will ever change that. However, that fact never suggested to not try and figure out the how.

That is one of those things I will be asking Jesus right after I walk through the pearly gates. I think some things should just be left to wonder at. Think about it. Look at how we are designed and created to develop from the moment of conception. It is a most awesome and awe inspiring act. How can anyone deny Creationism when faced with the complex andintricate creation of man. If it were just a fluke it would be rare for a person to be createdbut our worldwide population stands as a testament to creationism!

I think it's ok if some people just want to wonder and I think it's ok if some people want to figure stuff out. We are all different yet created equal, you have your scientists here and your philosophers there and I think together they make and interesting pair.

So what Ron Price is doing is posing a question about a completely non-existent problem?

"Why do people behave differently when they are perfect clones of each other for the first fourteen years of their life and have exactly the same experiences?" Ooh, that is difficult to answer. Thankfully, not only is it not true, it's impossible. Oh, well.

This coincides with the buddhist philosophy that the soul continues from life to life in reincarnation until the soul reaches enlightenment. The type of person you are and the things you go through in life depends on your past life and the type karma of you aquired from that life.

All religion is just an organizations of people believeing in different Gods and different ways of seeing life on life terms. And their beliefs fits them comfortably and as long it does not challenge their innerselves, then they are happy. If they feel uncomfortable or they need to be challenged, they quit and find another God. But I cannot deny creation because if I did, I would be a fool.

It has been four months since the last post on this thread. I post the following note/quote on God and the mystery of existence. I trust the quote is enjoyed by some readers here.-Ron Price, Australia
-----------------
How then can I sing and tell of Thine Essence, which the wisdom of the wise and the learning of the learned have failed to comprehend, inasmuch as no man can sing that which he understandeth not, nor recount that unto which he cannot attain, whilst Thou hast been from everlasting the Inaccessible, the Unsearchable. Powerless though I be to rise to the heavens of Thy glory and soar in the realms of Thy knowledge, I can but recount Thy tokens that tell of Thy glorious handiwork.

By Thy Glory! O Beloved of all hearts, Thou that alone canst still the pangs of yearning for Thee! Though all the dwellers of heaven and earth unite to glorify the least of Thy signs, wherein and whereby Thou hast revealed Thyself, yet would they fail, how much more to praise Thy holy Word, the creator of all Thy tokens. -Baha'u'lla in Baha'i Prayers, US, p.122.
