Public entry Rooms Available (Reposted from 2010)
January 05, 2021 @ 01:52:17 pm
John 14:2 - In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? With the summer months approaching some of us are planning vacations or overnight trips. We may need a place to stay, so we look for a room with the features we want. They may include internet access, a microwave and fridge, a place that allows pets and the list can go on, and we want the room all ready when we get there. In the Bible Christ promises us a room that will be ready for us in his heavenly kingdom, and he goes on to say that he wouldn't have told us this if it were not true. We can trust in everything that Jesus has promised to those who come to him and accept him as their personal Savior. We all need to accept him as our Savior because he is the only way to eternal salvation and to get a room that is all ready for us in his heavenly kingdom. whataboutjesus.com

Public entry Substitutions
December 01, 2020 @ 05:16:28 pm
Isaiah 47 : 13 - ...Let your astrologers come forward, those stargazers who make predictions month by month, let them save you from what is coming upon you. - There are many seemingly innocent substitutions for God's word that we can use. Astrology comes to mind because it is so popular. It seems so innocent when millions of people read their horoscopes and put their trust in them, and when I was a kid there were Ouija Boards in stores by the games that I don't see anymore and I don't know why. I've heard stories of people using Ouija Boards and disaster followed. Maybe that's why they're so hard to find. Then there are Tarot Cards and the list goes on. These and things like them seem like no big deal but they are displeasing to God who wants us to come to him with everything and his grace will help us. His greatest act of grace came when he gave us his son Jesus to provide the way to his heavenly kingdom and for that there is no substitute. https://whataboutjesus.com

Public entry Thank God
November 02, 2020 @ 01:21:56 pm
Psalm 7:17 - I will give thanks to the Lord because of his righteousness; I will sing the praises of the name of the Lord Most High. - As Thanksgiving approaches we can all give thanks to God for everything we have because he is the provider of all things. He has given some more than others according to his will (Luke 12:48 - From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded. Whether we have been given a lot or little God has made us all and for that we can be thankful (Proverbs 22:2 -Rich and poor have this in common: The LORD is the Maker of them all ) . He has given us many blessings the greatest of which is when he sent his son to die for our sin. For that let's be truly thankful. http:/whataboutjesus.com

Public entry The Reformation
October 02, 2020 @ 04:47:58 pm
Matthew 15:9 - They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules. - Most of us have not been able to take a road trip this year, but when we do we want our maps, g.p.s or whatever to be accurate. And accuracy regarding God's word is what the leaders of the church reformation worked for. Christ had the same problem. Before the reformer's work became successful in the fifteen hundreds there was only one church in the whole world that would permit no others and was willingly preaching things that were not even close to God's word. The reformer's work was not easy. Sometimes their writings were burned, some had to hide and some were even killed by the church because they were said to be working against it. The most important thing the reformers wanted everyone to know was that Jesus Christ was their only savior, and not their own works. Without accuracy about Christ people cannot know him and be saved. https://whataboutjesus.com

Public entry Pass the Humble Pie
August 28, 2020 @ 04:14:39 pm
Matthew 23:12 - For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted. - This scripture is part of a parable which is described by Eastons Bible dictionary as "an earthly (fictional, this word mine) story with a heavenly meaning," "A large portion of our Lord's public teaching consisted of parables". Whether Christ was speaking in parables or using regular language it was always a teachable moment for us, and he makes it clear that he prefers humility. As he tells us in Matthew 20:2 - ...but if anyone has a desire to become great among you, let him be your servant; - Christ became the servant of everyone when he died on the cross for our sins. Let's be humble for him. https://whataboutjesus.com

Public entry Endure (Reposted from 2009)
July 31, 2020 @ 04:21:03 pm
2 Corinthians 4:8-9 - We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. - This scripture is part of a letter written by Paul the apostle about 55 AD to the Christian church in Corinth. In it Paul mentions the difficulties and the blessings experienced by him in serving the Lord. After being called by Christ, Paul endured many things for the Gospel. They included shipwrecks, beatings, stonings, prison and other things that most of us wouldn't put up with. But Paul considered these things to be blessings while preaching the Gospel of Christ. Today all over the world some that serve the Lord endure things from bad verbal comments to those experienced by Paul. God tells us in the Bible that things like this won't last. As is written in 2 Corinthians 4:18 - So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. - Some of the people that preach Jesus Christ and serve him suffer for it just as Christ served and suffered for us. Christ paid for all our sins on the cross. He did this so we all could have forgiveness from our sins and one day live with him in his heavenly kingdom forever. https://whataboutjesus.com

Public entry Not Gonna Happen
July 01, 2020 @ 03:13:14 pm
John 10:28-30 - I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.” In the mid 70's there was a television show called "Kung Fu" about a young man learning that skill. Part of his training was trying to grab a pebble out of one of his teacher's hands before the teacher closed it. Eventually the young man was able to do it because he became fast enough. But Christ is saying here that not even someone like this man could snatch people out of God's hand. The only way we can leave God's hand is to jump out ourselves as so many are doing today. This is possible because he doesn't force us to be there but if we want he will keep us. (Matthew 10:22 - ...the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.-) . We all need to be in his hand so Christ will save us from our sins.

Public entry Misconceptions
May 28, 2020 @ 04:08:06 pm
I did this subject years ago and I think it's important because some misconceptions about Christianity can be dangerous because they mislead people so I'm doing it again. Misconceptions that aren't in the Bible can creep in or they can openly break in and deceive. Following are just a few misconceptions that many people have: 1. Enough good deeds will get us to Heaven. While we are told to do good deeds, they won't get us to Heaven. If this were true there wouldn't be a need for Christ. Ephesians 2:5 - You are saved by grace! 2. Christians never have problems and everything for them is smooth sailing. Matthew 6:34 - Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
3. The devil has horns and a tail (sometimes the tail has a spear point in drawings) and he is in charge of Hell and said "better to reign in Hell than to serve in Heaven". None of this is in the Bible, and he's not in Hell yet. Revelation 12:9 -The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him. 4. God will be pleased if I don't celebrate holidays like Christmas and Easter. Romans 14:5 - One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind. These and all misconceptions should be avoided because they can lead us away from the truth about our Savior Jesus Christ. whataboutjesus.com

Public entry Spring Cleaning
April 30, 2020 @ 03:51:49 pm
Matthew 3:12
His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire.” - Because of the virus most people are staying home and many are probably using the time to do some Spring cleaning. Spring has long been the season to do some serious cleaning but I think serious cleaning can be done anytime. Serious cleaning is what God will do when he comes and as the scripture says he will gather his wheat into the barn and burn the chaff. The wheat of course is all the people who have accepted his son Jesus as their only savior and he will bring them to live with him in his heavenly kingdom. But as we are told in Psalm 1:4 - Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away - . When this happens none of us want to be counted among the chaff and only Jesus can make this happen. whataboutjesus.com

Public entry Something's Missing
March 30, 2020 @ 02:18:16 pm
Proverbs 3:5-6 - Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. - Everyone seems to be talking about the coronavirus, so I will too. We've all heard what we should do to deal with it or minimize it so I won't go there. But one thing we don't hear on the news is after we do everything else, is to trust in God. To unbelievers this will sound stupid and a waste of time, but believers know better. They remember the words of Christ in Matthew 28:20 - ... surely I am with you always,... Whatever is happening to our nation God is in control of it and we all need to remember that and ask him to never do it again. whataboutjesus.com
