Public entry Kids & Video Games

Now i was walking back from picking up my son [9] from school with my dog [who was sniffing a lot of dog s***] and my youngest lad [3] when the 9 year old ask if i could download him GUN for the PS2, i answered that i would see.

Now i get back home and check out GUN and see it's rated a mature game which puts it around an 18 cert in the UK, so i was like scratching my head and wondering where the hell he had played this game. Now before you start i'm not an overly oppressive father, i would consider myself quite lax and i do let him play games upto cert 15 within reason but i draw the line at Cert 18 games for an 9 year old.

So i gave him a shout and asked him where he had played the game and he tells me his nana let him play it at the weekend, now she knows my stance on this and i'm a bit pissed off she would rule against my parenting, but i held my tongue, i certainly didn't give the lad a row as it wasn't his fault but now i'm thinking am i too tough? Am i wrong to stop him playing Cert 18 games? I play and love Ps2 games, i love the Resident evil series and played them nonstop, i'm still battling through Resi 4, and i love the GTA games which he has been dying to play but i won't let him play.

Now i think i wouldn't let him watch a Cert 18 movie so why the hell would i let him play a Cert 18 video game, am i right or am i being too tough?

Public entry Whats in a Dog Pooh?
May 15, 2006 @ 06:56:49 pm
Not a literal question but i was walking to school this afternoon to pick up my lad [9] and noticed my dog, mia, was doing what dogs do and was sniffing a great deal at dog s*** and other assorted things and i wondered what the hell she could smell, you know, what it's like for her?

Whilst observing her as we walked i noticed she smelt some s*** longer than others and i start to think what the hell does sniffing s*** tell her and other dogs?

Now obviously it doesn't tell her that the s*** was done by a dog nor that it was done by a poodle or labrador as those as man made terms we use to label the breed and subsequent sub species, so do you reckon she just smells s***? do you reckon they get nothing from but it's just a genetic flaw to smell each others s***? even bums? or do you reckon she smells "Mmmm pedigree chum?" Or maybe it's more sophistcated and they smell moods or feelings?

Puzzled me so it did

Public entry Women, Bags and Shoes

My Mrs, she's lovely and i love her dearly but she can be so infuriating.

Yesterday she text me constantly from work wanting my opinion on what new bag to buy this week [she bought 2 last week]- a white one or a nice red one from Tula [they make Radley bags and purses appparently] Now WTF do i care about what bag she buys? all they are are recepticles for what can only be termed as unessecary women's junk, i once asked her if she could carry my keys in her bag and i got "sorry i don't have any room" now this bag could have housed an American style fridge freezer.

Anyways i said "buy the white one" cause she already has 3 red ones in her extensive collection, now this woman is to bags what Imelda Marcos was to shoes [she also has a shoe collection that could easily keep a small shoe store stocked for some weeks] So she bought the white one and got it home, don't get me wrong i ain't no bag expert, however after 6 years of this i have picked up a tip or two and it was rather nice bag and quite trendy but today she comes home she wants the red one

So why are bags and shoes such a crux for women? Do you reakon somewhere in the world there is a scientific study on this phenomenon cause she'd really make a rather interest case study
