My middle daughter turns 17 today.
When she was born, she looked like a shar-pei. All muscles and skin... hardly a bit of baby fat on the kid. You could use her as an anatomy model- all these wonderful strong little muscles. Her head was shaped like Gumby's... remember him? His head was triangular. She apparently came out of the birth canal doing a wonderful spiral dive, twisting as she emerged. ouch. She was bare bald, which showed off the gumby head to full advantage for a week. She didn't have enough hair for a barrette until she was 2!
Now she's 17. 5'11", a head full of spiral curls showering down to the middle of her back. Still muscular as heck- she's a varsity athlete. Smart as heck- 3 AP classes in her junior year.
I am one lucky mom!!!

oh yeah, the other 2 kids are wonderful and beautiful as well- but it's just not their birthday

So will they get a journal entry about how wonderful they are on their birthdays?

Congrats on raising a wonderful kid! And happy birthday to your daughter!

of course they'll get entries, assuming they don't royally piss me off on the day i'm journaling

but, ok... the eldest, at 20, is both a full-time student at the university and full-time assistant manager at a local clothing retailer. she stays on top of all the trends and makes sure i'm not dressed like a refugee. She was my first- born beautiful... none of this gumby head stuff with her. she was the first baby i knew that DIDN'T look a think like winston churchill.

the youngest, my son, is a 6'4" tall 15-year-old. a poster child for geekdom and likely to be the next 40 year old virgin, he is also the MOST loving and MOST caring person i know. Straight A's this year (freshman) and top scoring forward on the JV soccer team... but i have to pay him to shower (maybe it's a normal teen boy thing but phew!). in his hospital infant picture, barely born, he already had his fingers in his ears... i think he already knew he had 2 sisters!

now i'm covered!
