Public entry Confusing Lights
July 31, 2005 @ 02:41:52 am

I am changing a habit. I am starting to rise early. I read for a while, and then go for a walk. I was actually stopped by the police on Tuesday morning, because he thought I was jaywalking. He apologized, and said it had been a long night.

On Friday morning I felt hungry, so I decided to buy a bacon biscuit at McDonald's. But, I was out of cash, so I needed to visit an ATM. I decided to hop a bus to my bank. It is only a five minute bus ride, that early in the morning.

My bank is located in an office complex. There is a traffic light in front of the complex. I have certainly seen malfunctioning traffic lights before, but this morning, I saw a combination that I had not seen previously. For traffic on the main road, the light was red, but the yellow was also flashing. For the traffic exiting the office park (there was no traffic at this hour), the light was green, but the red was flashing. It looked like total confusion.

I told my wife about it last night. I said, "Can you imagine the affect that combination of lights would have on someone who might be high on drugs?" They might really think that they were having a bad trip!!

The bacon biscuit was very good.
