vizzy said: I'm going to try really hard not to get overly bitchy with you Thomas, but I have to say...given the level of literacy displayed in your posts I'm totally flabbergasted that you would suggest that myself and my son lack knowledge of the Patriot Act.
Here's the PM exchange I had with him. I think the level of maturity displayed here speaks for itself:
DT said: I don't think that was an idiotic statement i made.
I'll bet you anything neither her or her son could explain which one of thier civial liberites they are losing by the patriot act
j said: Vizzy is a pretty bright woman. While I can't say that either she or her son could relate the details of the Patriot Act to you on command, I have no doubt that they have both read or heard enough about it in the past to come to the conclusion that it does erode civil liberties.
I couldn't even rattle off the details of it to you without a quick refresher from Wikipedia, but I know damn well it was an awful, reactionary act that does indeed severely infringe on my personal liberties.
Furthermore, going into someone's journal and throwing out an insult by implying that neither the journal writer nor her son probably don't know anything about the Patriot Act which she was discussing is pretty rude. I would have deleted the post had it been my own journal.
DT said: Is there some kind of journal ethics that i'm missing?
I just asked a simple question, "which rights where the patriot act removing?".
She doesn't know. Thats why it hit a nerve for her. If she knew she would have answered with something more inteligent than what she answered with.
She answered with a knee jerk reaction of " your dumb" and ran off.
Are you only supose to go to jurnals and post a bull s**t "RIGHT ON!" message? every time?
She didn't say which of her rights where being infrenged upon, do you want to know why?
Because the patiot act doesn't infringe on any rights of any one person. It doesn't stop you from doing anything. Its all hype.
I didn't say " you don't know anything about the patiot act" I didn't acuse anyone of anything, i just asked a simple question and would have liked a simple answer, because i honestly don't know of any rights we as citizens have lost from the patiot act.
What i got was " that is a idiotic statment"
j said: It's just rude to come into someone's thread and tell them they probably don't know anything about the subject they're talking about.
It's incredibly presumptuous. You're just assuming they're stupid. Whether in real life, in a public thread, or in a journal, it's a huge assumption to make - and an insulting one.
And the Patriot Act *does* infringe on our rights. Well, specifically, it gives the government the power to infringe on our rights almost at will. You should read it some time.
DT said: Now whos being "rude" you bring our private converation to a public forum because you can't defend your stance on the patiot act? Please if you want to be a child and air our conversations to people who can't respond with something more inteligent than a negative kudo.
I honestly did think i could have a mature converstion with you.
I have read it, and I have heard a great deal of hype about how it infringes on our civil liberties, guess what slappy it doesn't.
Tell me one gd thing the patiot act doesn't let you do!
JUST ONE!
Just one and i'll concede the argument.
j said: It doesn't need to prevent me from doing something good.
It can (and does) give the government the power to infringe on your rights.
DT said: I'm waiting smart guy, give me one single liberty you have lost from the patriot act. Your talking out of your bung!
You don't knwo the slightest thing about how it effects your civil liberites in anyway way.
its not me that need the extra education on a given subject, its you.
j said: [insult removed] I'm not going to have a conversation, much less explain anything, to [insult removed]
DT said: Still havn't gotten a answer tuff guy, now we are throwing insults. cute, see you in the sand box, with the rest of the infants.
The consummate troll. |
