One thing i have learned about life on a forum is when to let something go. What i mean is, not necessarily to back down on your belief or view or to change it, but when to drop it, when to walk away from the debate.

What i have found is, especially on TFS, i may strongly disagree with a person about a particular issue in one thread, yet i wholeheartedly back them in another thread.

We cant all be of the same opinions otherwise this place would be dullsville. Conflicting opinions keep topics alive and we can all enjoy this providing we don't take what is being said as personal.

I may debate to the point of switching off the PC and walking away with someone but the next day i would gladly wish them a happy birthday or laugh at their joke. Its a case of dropping it.

If you carry over your clash of opinion then basically all you are doing is making the whole experience of using a forum a bad one for yourself.

Another thing I notice is when people feel attacked because their "over the garden fence" information is being questioned and where necessary corrected. Again this is typical internet activity. If I suddenly declared that the British Government were bringing in a new law where on Friday's everyone must walk backwards - i would expect to be asked to prove this. We can all post hearsay and gossip but don't get stressed out or get feelings of persecution because you are being asked where you heard this? where are the facts?

Because this is all typical forum activity. And those you think are out to get you are actually quite happily continuing with their lives without giving you a second thought.
