| Because the government don't care for us. Every morning we're told to stand up, and sing O Canada to the flag to "Honour the soldiers who died for us in the war so we could have freedom."
I say Bull. I DO respect those who died for us in the world wars... i'd lay a flower down on their graves any day, they were brave men who deserve to be remembered, honoured, and the such.
But our government does NOT. We say "Oh we're canada, we're such a lovely country. We're so multicultural anyone can live here and feel at home."
Riiight.
So tell me Canada... where's your muliticulturalism when a Sik (did i spell that right? Seek?) man with a turban applies for a job at a restaurant. Where's your multiculturalism when the man is turned down from the job because he refuses to take off his turban for his religious beliefs? How come Jehova Witnesses are yelled at for not saluting the flag when it's not part of their religious beliefs? I'm not Jehova Witness but I like their thinking. I still conform to standing and singing the anthem but i really should not be so hypocritcal and stand up for what i believe in. If we really are a "democratic multicultural society" it shouldn't be a problem... but since we're not it will be.
I knew a man once, his adopted father was a big head honcho in the government... maybe it was canadian maybe it was american i don't know and if i did i wouldn't be that specific... but when the man i know wanted to know who his real parents were his adopted father wouldn't tell him... it was a big government secret. He told me that even if he held the Head of the government at gun point no one would tell him because it was that big of a secret. So what does that tell you? The government is hiding something about that guys parents... if they're hiding something like that from a child who deserves to know his background what are they hiding from the rest of us?
I always use movies for examples in these things haha it helps me connect but did anyone ever see "The Minority Report" ? The president of that Pre Crime organization was the only guy to get away with murder... why? because he was so high up on the hierchy that 1) no one suspected him and 2) he knew how to do it so he'd get away with it. In the same way our government could do whatever they wanetd to whomever they wanted and get away with it.
Does it seem fair to you? Not to me it doesn't.
My grade eight teacher once told me that i'd be an excellent politician. Kind of an oxymoron in my opinion. Politics corrupt people. The more power you have the more corrupted you are... because it gets to a point where no one will say no to you anymore. if i said to one of you "Get me a pepsi!" you'd say, "get off your own lazy butt and get it yourself!" however... if i were the prime minister of canada and i asked you to get me a pepsi you'd probably say, "yes ma'am right away" ... unless you're like me and don't respect people just because their title is "Prime Minister blah blah" I see everyone on the same level as me... until they do something to earn my respect then I will put them higher above me. That's why my dad has my respect while my mom does not. That's also why i know a criminal who I have more respect for than any prime minister.
Although I can't say their all bad... I did respect Cretien's decision not to go to war. You know what war is?
Buisiness. Any banker guy will tell you, "Yeah we need a good war right now." You know why? Because everyone has some money in their purse. Think about it... once you've killed an entire family what's left over? Their valuables. Hey they're dead they don't need that $40,000 in the bank... lets take it. That's what war is... the more people you kill the more money you make... but guess where that money goes. Feed the poor? Help the environment? Keep Peace? Yeah right. It goes towards the government.
I feel the need to bring the states into this little rant here, but since I do not live in the united states it would be ignorant of me to do so. All i can say is that when that Dixy Chick girl said that she was ashamed George W. came from the same state that she was from, and she was not allowed to play in that state... how does that show freedom of speech in the US? I'm sure there's a canadian example out there... but the government has kept it too hushed up. Current Music: Ladies and Gentlemen- Saliva
