9465 points | I had mono once, it lasted for like a whole month! Although I did lose a bit of weight from it lol. But the best I can say is drink plenty of liquids and rest... REST especially. I was put on some kind of medication though.. but that was 10 years ago so I have no idea what I was prescribed. You might want to see another doctor for a second opinion  |

Plenty of liquid, painkillers (paracetamol is probably best as it'll help any temp too) and rest. If it gets to the stage where you have trouble breathing etc then get to a hospital.
In extreme cases it can get so bad they have to use steroids Oh, and no 'contact' sports because if your spleans is enlarged it can be bad too apparently  |

1258 points | Kit-- I cant tell you EXACTLY what Mono is, But it is called the "Kissing Virus" You can get it from Kissing or having Direct contact with Saliva from someone who has previously had it...
I got it when I was a kid... I was a LITTLE kid though, Some idiot licked the water fountain lol. All I remember is being REALLY REALLY REALLY weak and sleeping ALL the time! I never ate, just drank alot of fluid, But hey... I lost alot of weight... 
I would just use the advice you have already heard. They sound very wise!!  |

Try to keep the fluid intake up as high as you can. It can take a lot of time, several weeks at least for it to pass.
When you have got over the initial illness be aware that you will be very low and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome may kick in.
There is a homiopathetic medicine called eachinea (sorry about spelling) that will help rebuild your immune system and help you get on the slow road to recovery.
