| It was a race of rubbing and shunting but i managed to get 3rd overall. Just dont ask me how considering others were spinning off all over place. We went to Birmingham Wheels outdoor karting centre, we had a 5 min practice / qualify session in which i qualified 2nd putting me on the first row of the grid. Unfortunatly my kart didnt have the best pic up meaning i had dropped back to fourth by the first corner . We all had a good first few laps, then the rubbing started. By this time Ad had made ground up and was challenging me for fourth, but it wasnt to be. I found a particular part of the track to my liking and challenged Mark for third, who promtly made his kart as big as possible, he even began to pull away from me again, I lost Ad at some point too (think he span off). About half way into the race the yellow flags were brought out (not for the first time) as we went into the first chicane were I can see one kart in the middle of the track and a second burried in a gra** bank, I reconize the helmet of one of them, its Mark!, Yes im into third, the thought of making a mistake comes to mind but I manage to shake it before anything happens, I keep my cool, im to far behind to worry about second or first. so i keep my mind on the track ahead of me. All of a sudden i feel the back end squirming for grip, i look round and see Riki rubbing my kart (hang on a min ive lapped him twice!!!! why is he all over me!) but he couldnt keep up through the chicane, which is a shame cuz he's a good laugh.
In the end I was able to keep third and manage to get second fastest lap times both in qualifying and the Race with third overall.
All hail Stuart who came first overall out of twelve. |
