Public entry Self Empowerment Is A Good Life
September 29, 2008 @ 01:51:40 am
A recent experience happened I wanted to share especially in this time of Election Year 2008. Cha-cha-cha-changes. Changes. Ah, indeed. In a nutshell, I found myself without a car radio. My impulse was to take it to the dealer and have them “fix” it now. After all, that is what we do. My second impulse was I can’t afford this, so I’ll do it myself, change a simple radio right? What to do in the meantime with 2 teenagers in the car and of course, myself, with the deafening sound of nothingness? I got creative, as tons of us moms do. I Velcro’ed a portable radio to the dash. Just until I could figure out how to change the current nonsense I was bothered with having no stereo in the car. I was told not to touch any wiring because I could shut down my entire vehicle that could only be reprogrammed with the original factory 4-digit code. Shudder. Worse than the egg scare a decade ago. This was so unacceptable to me that I was being told I could not do this. Is that what we want to teach our kids? Not? How about changes to how we do things at our own personal level. I used the web to simply pop the front of my dashboard. I went to Audio Effects with my old stereo in hand and asked what I needed to fix this myself. They were absolutely awesome. With the wires hanging from my dash, they were able to tell me exactly what kind of system I needed, what would work, what would not. Then I set out to get a deal. I was able to get a great sound system, wire it myself, and be proud of my accomplishment. This took all of one day, scrunched my time and honestly(?) made me a bit irritable in the process but was it worth it? Absolutely. My point is, convenience is not the way. Using the God-given talent we have (known as intuition & brains) combined with a bit of curiously, leg-work and most of all our own time and perseverance is what makes each of great. That greatness combined in unity is what makes us a great nation. Nothing more, nothing less. The expectation of being able to accomplish greatness is an individual process. Take time to learn and teach yourself, your neighbor, child or whomever the benefit of true empowerment. Live as neighbors. This community rings of experts. Go to the experts and ask your questions personally. Take time to show how important it is to learn just one more thing. More importantly, share your thoughts, don’t be stagnant, and hopefully, you will always be able to make informed decisions. This is the only why cha-cha-cha-changes happen for the best of the whole. Otherwise, you are basically just throwing stones from your own backyard.
