| I'm really sorry that your first day wasn't so hot. That really stinks.
I started last week. It was a pretty good first day. All last week my classes were kind of just introductory, so no homework was assigned. Maybe that's why I thought it was pretty cool...
The first few days, if you didn't do orientation (and even if you did) are tough to get to know where everything is, etc. I kind of had the advantage of having been on campus many times before and knowing where everything, the heads of departments and all that other stuff.
Things will get better. There are opportunities, trust me, but they take awhile to develop/surface. Everything first kind of sucks when you're new to it--as you gain experience it'll smooth out.
I take it, too, from your post that you're commuting. That adds to the difficulty; it's easier to make friends with someone when you're living with them, or at least in the building or community. I'm sure wherever you're going has some sort of commuter group or something--meet with them (as well as other uni groups that you might be interested in) and meet some people! |

| I hope it does get better Its not really the courses, its just i thought the classes would be more interesting and taught in different ways. But its just like highschool sitting with a textbook why the teacher babbles on bearly involving the students. And the other students have their heads so far up their own arces its not possible! Trying to make a conversation with them is not possible! They just look down their nose at me! Which to be honest i couldnt give a f*** about. But why are they better than me? We're all there to learn why cant we just be nice to eachother and get on with it "URGH!" |

| The fun of college comes from not living with your parents anymore.
Going to college and living with your 'rents at the same time sucks mightily.
You can still make the most of it though.. get involved in some clubs and sports! There are going to be tons of them at your uni. Get involved *now* and you will absolutely not regret it. It will give you stuff to do away from home and you will make lots of friends.
BTW, freshman classes are the worst. They're like high school classes minus any sense of community or compassion. The classes will get better as you progress! |

| It'll only get better!
If you treat teachers like adults, they'll treat you like adults back! man, I rmeember my first day at college. Seemed exatly the same as school, but eventually teachers became nicer. They'd let you use their firs names. Wouldn't mind a little bit of bad languae. Got to leave earlier than everyone else.
It was easier to debate with teachers when you were on the same level. You could joke and a have laugh.
Don't worry! It'll improve! |

Ahhhh, you're wrong there jonny I'm afraid. See, in the UK, you very rarely find someone that moves out wehn they go to college at 16. Its when they go to uni at 18 that they move out, and I believe they did say they're still with their folks atm. College and uni are different things (Sorry, not sure about this is the states) but college isn't as 'high' as uni in educational terms. |

Ah, my bad. I didn't even realize she lives in the UK. Ignore me!
But try to join some clubs anyway! |
