| Structure and Deformation I was pretty confident on this exam. Most other people I knew didn't think this course was their best, mind you it wasn't my best, but if you put the effort in you got a good grade for all the work you did before the exam.
I studied what I thought was all the important parts of the course, and wrote down everything in language that I understood. Got through the revision early, allowing me lots of time to memorise it.
I get into the exam today, thinking that the format would be approximately the same. Thinking that there is one particular part of the course that I didn't like too much, which if I studied everything else well i'd be able to skip. But that idea was completely shot down.
They changed the format. You kind of had to expect that. Thankfully I had studied the stuff I wanted to avoid, otherwise that was the third of the exam gone like that. There was 3 sections of the exam, and 3 questions in each question. You only had to answer two in each section.
Fair enough? Yeah sure, but if you wanted the safe option and easy marks you had to work really hard for it! There were exercises that you had to complete for 2 of the 3 sections. Make a stuff up in them and thats 15% of the exam gone like that. So I avoided that and stuck to definitions and illustrations.
I'm confident I passed the exam. I answered everything to the best of my ability and made an answer on every question. Sure some of it might not be exactly right, but its probably half right and thats worth half the marks I guess!
I now have an expectation of my final grade for the course. Only time will tell to see whether I have done as well as I am expecting, or whether something went horribly wrong in the exam! |
