Public entry I'd like to recommend a book
January 14, 2006 @ 08:02:42 am
I started reading a book by someone who was in my sister's unit over in Iraq, it's called "Surviving Twilight" by Shane Bernskoetter. Read more below.

Public entry Creepy old men and dealing with them.
January 05, 2006 @ 06:52:50 am
First of all, not all old men are creepy, so any of you men that may feel you fall into the old men category and don't feel you're creepy, I'd probably especially welcome your opinions to see if you can make some more sense of this than I can. I need some advice on one creepy older man (he's not old per se, just too old for me to have ANY interest in, besides the fact that i'm happily engaged) in particular.

Public entry Patriot Act Extension: DENIED
December 17, 2005 @ 06:09:10 am
"In a vote early Friday, the bill's senate supporters are not able to get 60 votes needed to overcome a filibuster by [one democratic and one republican senator]. The final vote is 52-47."

When the bill was asked what he thought of this, the only comments given were, "I'm just a bill... on Capitol Hill." Ok i made that part up.

But the rest of it is good news, so yea! I'm raising my tequila and mango orange juice to that outcome.

In other news, work was long today and I think my PCHem final went really well despite studying less for it than the previous three exams. So hopefully that'll boost my grade a bit. There were a few confusing things as it was in kinetics and i've never been a big fan of that but most of it was all right.

Public entry Book Discussion Group
December 16, 2005 @ 06:37:46 am
I had an interest meeting for a book discussion group I formed today. Only three other people showed up and two of them were good friends of mine. However, the fliers were put out two days before and the weather was really lousy. I think if I keep trying to spread the word, more people will come. We decided to read "Another Roadside Attraction" by Tom Robbins for the first meeting. If anyone is interested in joining the online version of the discussion group the address is link [groups.yahoo.com]
It should start getting interesting once the ball gets rolling. I also made some chocolate chip/m&m cookies for the occasion and they were pretty good. Now I have too many cookies sitting around and I'll probably eat them all! Hehe...

Public entry 36 Teeth
December 12, 2005 @ 05:27:09 am
When I was in Costa Rica, I was sitting at this bank cuz there was a really long line and i was waiting for my friend to get done there, and so i was really bored and looking at some advertisement, a big picture of a woman smiling about their banking service or something, but in spanish. Anyway, I started counting her teeth and counted 36. So I counted again and again and kept getting 36. Now 34 teeth is the number of teeth people have, and that includes wisdom teeth, which most people don't have and you wouldn't really be able to see anyway. So is this a standard trick of graphic designers to make smiles look teethier?

Public entry Walking and Carrying Stuff
December 07, 2005 @ 10:30:53 pm
Today we're having a thing in chinese cla** where we all bring in a chinese dish we made. I made a big bowl of green fruit salad, and my fiance's not back with the car, and won't be before i have to leave. That sucks, cuz it's like 30 degrees out and I'm going to freeze and it's probably going to slosh on me and make me all sticky. I hate winter and walking with messy stuff...

Public entry Oh also...
December 05, 2005 @ 11:41:50 pm
My chinese final was today, i think i did pretty well. On wednesday we have to bring in a chinese dish for a party. I'm going to make green fruit salad.

My seminar cla** also had its last meeting today, and that was somewhat boring but refreshing that it's over with.

Tomorrow I have chem synth lab and i hope to god that my synthesis thing gets done because I'm sick of being there two weeks longer than everyone else.

That's what's going on here, the semester's almost over and I can't wait to just work for a month and not have tests to study for and projects to work on. Bring in some money...

Public entry The other side of Pot
December 05, 2005 @ 11:39:22 pm
I didn't want to get into this in replies for the other guy's journal cuz I can sort of see his concern. However I wouldn't say pot's so much of a gateway drug as people make it out to be. Really the worst thing it does is that it makes you really lazy for a few hours. However, people who tend to be willing to try pot are generally willing to try other things as well. In my DARE cla** they told us what all these drugs do to you, and it really made me wanna try acid cuz man, did that sound fun. Not many kids between middle school and like 10th grade have acid on hand though, so when my buddy said he tried smoking pot, i asked if it was fun, he said yes, so i sorta said what the hell and gave it a try. I'm pretty much a hedonist, so anything that i think is fun i don't mind doing. It didn't ruin my life, it didn't make me try addictive drugs, but then again I had pretty good direction in my life and usually have an idea what i want to accomplish, so i didn't just get stuck in a drug ridden rut. It's really not as bad as it's made out to be. It's the crack, meth, and heroin that you really have to worry about, cuz even if you don't think those are fun your body will want you to try it again even if you don't. See where I'm going with this?
