Reality JUST hit me like a load of bricks... I am moving into a college dorm in exactly one week now. My previous life will be gone.
This just occured me to. I did awesome in highschool! Speech has done wonders for me. I graduated with a Honors Diploma and got a $1000 dollar scholarship from NHS for my hard work. Now, High School is officially over and I am out on the world on my own. This scares me a little. Mom and Dad can't be there at my beckoning call... speech is no more... most professors don't care if you are failing their class... money will be tight... I will have hardly any relaxing time because of studying.
I just realized that this is going to be a huge transition in my life and I better make the most of this last week before I've got to face the real world. Wow... | |

True, there will more studying, money will be tight and there will be problems with roommates, trust me. But the important thing is to keep things moving down your path of life so that you can achieve what you are striving for. Congrats, by the way, on all your success. My little sister just graduated high school with honors as well and I couldn't be more proud. Not all older siblings are proud to say that their younger siblings are smarter than they are. |

It is a huge transition, but it's a great one too. I honestly can't think of a year that has changed me as much as my first year of college. So many ups and some downs too, but I did so many new things and really broadened my horizons a bit. It's a great, great experience.
College is what you make of it, and you have the kind of motivation and drive that tells me you're going to have a fantastic and successful year.
It will seem like a lot to handle - new city, new school, new friends, new living situation, new classes, new routine - but by the end of the semester you'll be looking back saying, "that wasn't so hard."
Good luck and we want to hear how it goes! |
