Public entry So i saved a girls life yesterday..
July 24, 2008 @ 11:32:35 am
Im serious..

I was coming back from a buiness trip and my mate was dropping me off, we pulled into my street and there was a Older woman and a 13 year old girl screaming there heads off, and jesus the sound was horriable.. at there feet laid a girl in her 30's flat on her back with blood coming out of her mouth.

Apprently she was diabetic and didnt take her drugs.. so my mate and I ran out he called the ambalance and I put her into a recovery position, and out poured blood, it looked like she bite her tounge, but she was out of it. so i kept her like that and tried carming down her family, my mate was repeating everything i was saying about what the condition is. She had only her blood sugar metre on her, so I got her daughter (the 13 year old) to check it for me), the older woman was i think the mother of the woman out cold. I discovered she has just had a baby, and she doesnt take her drugs regulary too!

she started coming around and by then the ambalance turned up.. by then i turned into crowd control! lol.. they got her in a wheel chair and in the ambalance she was still not with it, and they sat in ambalance for about 20mins.

Later last night i got a knock from the girls Father thanking me for everything i did.

I discovered last night what type of person i am, and what type of people my neighbours are, as all they did was curtain twitch.

So, ye.. that was one crazy few hours I had last night..

Oh the girl is ok apprently but i will send her some flowers.

Thanks guys..

forgot to mention the blood sugar test is what helped th eambalance crew, as we relayed it back to the control room to the woman on the phone..

You know its now settleing in my head what i did yesterday, and I cant believe i did it all on auto pilot.. I was trained first aid by the RAF 10 years ago!

Everyone go on a course if you can! if your not in the medical profession.

i wish there was more ppl like you about, most ppl wouldnt have a clue how to do BM's..usually when we get on scene the public is hysterical, but i suppose its just fear for the patient..the ambulance crew would be extremely grateful!!..once again well done mate!!

It's amazing how many people will stand around watching and assume someone else will do something. Like that guy in Connecticut who was hit by a car, and for over a minute, a crowd stood around about 20 feet away and did nothing. 9 cars drove past with the guy laying in the middle of the road, some even slowed down and then kept going.

I was reading in a book about psychology how to get people to do something, if you are able to at least speak and move, you have to point out one person and say, "You, in the blue sweater, call 911!" That removes the expectation that someone else will do it. Now everyone is expecting that guy to do it, and that guy knows it.

Anyways good job!
