Some parents are just protective of their children and don't want them to get hurt. They may show it in a way that you don't like but that's what parents do. You'll know more about that when you're a Mother. |

Über-Minister 16701 points | Sorry babe i agree with your parents, their not doing it to 'ruin your fun' their doing it to protect you.
If my daughter did that to her phone she'd get more than loosing it for a month. |

I'm not taking sides, but parents always worry about what kids are up to. My mom searched my room for drugs once and I still haven't gotten over that one. I can understand why you're pissed though. Parents always think their kids are up to something when they're not. i'd be more worried about what you're doing on the net than on the phone though.
lol. i dont do drugs, but if my parents searched my room id be screwed... |

Every child and young person under the age of 18 has rights.
Child participation (article 12)
10. The Convention on the Rights of the Child principally enshrines children’s participation in all matters affecting children. Therefore, States parties must take all
appropriate measures to ensure that the concept of the child as rights-holders is anchored in the child’s daily life from the earliest stage: at home (and including, when applicable, the extended family); in school; in day care facilities and in his or
her community. States parties should take all appropriate measures to promote the active involvement of parents (and extended families), schools and communities at large, in the promotion and creation of opportunities for young children to actively
and progressively exercise their rights in the everyday activities. In this regard, special attention must be given to the freedom of expression, thought, conscience and religion and the right to privacy of the youngest children, according to their evolving
capacity.*
yea she doesnt have rights

Reread what JMO said. That Child Participation Act is very impressive. But so does NOT apply to this particular situation really, a phone taken away from ones child of which the parents probably pay for is far from stomping on their rights. It's called parenting and one being the parent and one being the child. A Phone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Mega Über-Meister 3808 points | | as a parent i would say that they are obviously anoyed at something you have done parents do not just created hasells for the hell of it despite what young folk believe if you have nothing to hide then i would just let your dad have the code and then when he finds nothing tel him you are dissappointed that he doesn't trust you that will cause him endless hours of guilt at your age you should be choosing your battles carefully let little things slide so you can make an impact on important things showing maturity is the best way to earn thier trust so give him the code get your phone back simple stick to your so called principle no phone. most parents are just trying to do the best they can theres no manual with kids telling us how ? |

That has sweet f**k all to do with what I said and you know it. I'd like to see you try and argue that point at the European court of human rights in relation to her parents taking her phone away.
I think parents of a 16 year old are quite entitled to do that, and I think it's a hell of alot better than alot of parents, I think it shows they are infact good parents. |
