The journey of my life.
Public entry Clearing off my Laptop and starting over!
September 01, 2008 @ 09:09:23 pm
This is taking soooo long! I made a backup of all the files in My documents, including all my program set up files, and copied them over to my other computer, and then did a fresh installation of XP, and now I'm transferring my documents back onto my laptop. This ought to get rid of all the weird quirks my laptop had. Like How every time I'd start up my computer, the C: folder would pop up by itself, or how incredibly slow it was! Should be better now, we'll see.

I'm not sure if the drivers for this system are compatible with XP. I don't want a computer with no sound. lol

yeah, when I installed XP professional, it said it wasn't compatible with my DVD writing driver. But I don't care, I don't write to DVD's anyway.

I reformatted this computer about a year ago with the restore disc that came with the computer. I figured it would "reset" the computer to the same condition it was in when I took it out of the box, but nope. It was a blank copy of Vista. Now I can't watch DVDs on it like I was able to when it was new.

Just the OS, nothing else. No video or sound drivers, no DVD decoder, can't play CD's.....

wow, weird. How could it come with no drivers, that's bizarre.

I don't know. I called them and they sent me another disc, but I'm kinda too worried to use it. lol

well, it would be ridiculous if they sent you ANOTHER disk with no drivers. Unless you just didn't do the install correctly or something

Nah, they told me that was all that was on the disc when I called complaining. Maybe I shouldn't have used it with a computer that's only a week old. lol
