| I went to work with the animal shelter yesterday. we adopt animals out at Petsmart on Saturdays. yesterday was a pretty good day. we had about six big, adult dogs that were on their last chance. basically these animals are scheduled to be put down the following Monday. well, for once we got them ALL adopted! I was so excited. I hate seeing the poor dogs get put down simply because nobody wanted them within three weeks. one adoption was really touching though. an 80 year old man choose one of our last chance dogs, a black lab. he wasn't certain whether or not to take her. I told him he can always bring her back if things don't work out. he started crying, and went on to tell me he lives alone and is scared of passing away! he told me he didn't want to get the dog, give her an awesome home until he passed away then have her end up back in the shelter.this man really touched my heart, and I knew he could use a companion. I told him if he would take the dog, I would take care of for him if he were to pa** away. his daughter and him started to cry at this point and I found myself tearing up. this man touched me so much, and it makes me feel that theres hope for all animals. if this man could do something so selfless for an animal, then anybody can. | |
