250-700 rounds per week fired for practice.

Shoots qualification requirements, then work on specifics like shooting from retention, precision shooting from 25 yds. shooting with a light, shooting on the move, one hand only, etc.

25 yds. 2 rds. center ma** (8X10 scoring ring) in 4 seconds 3x
15 yds. 2 rds center ma** in 3 seconds 3x
10 yds. 2 body 1 head (3x5) (failure drill) in 3.5 seconds 2x
7 yds. 2 body 1 head in 3 seconds 2x
5 yds. 2 body 1 head 2.5 seconds 2x
3 yds. 2 body 1 head 2 seconds 2x

shooting on the move
10 yds to 3 yds. 6 rds. to the body 1 rd. to the head. Speed Reload and 3 yds to 10 yds in reverse 6 rds. to the body, 1 to the head.

Then Repeat all with a draw, then shoot from retention from 2 yards instead of on the move.

Are you serious? That doesn't sound difficult at all. Give me a clip of practice shots to see how the gun shoots and I'm pretty sure I could do that pretty easily.

"and what if we're military trained"

That's a whole other story that gets kind of ugly as you get deeper and deeper into it. I've got a lot of friends that went and just from speaking to guys that have been in or are in- it varies. If you are military trained I hope they actually gave you the training. If your in spec ops community that's even better. They we KNOW you've gotten the training. A lot of what I've heard about has to do with how much it costs to do anything. Ammo isn't cheap, even for practice, even for the military.

The cost of ammo has certainly trickled down to us because of the war. it's not hard to see. I saw 9mm ball for $20 a box...I had to take a second look at that and say to myself "wtf? "

Do the drill then. It's a lot harder than you think. No practice, the drill is the practice. Use full house defense loads in whatever caliber you shoot.

Well all guns kinda shoot different. I'm pretty sure I'd have it by the second try. I'd probably not be real accurate the first 2 or 3 shots. Then I would get used to the gun.

That's the first mistake. You're relying too much on the gun. The drill isn't about the gun, it's about what you're able to do with it quickly. You're never going to see your sights clearly and you're probably not going to see your sights at all if you ever had to use it on someone.

Learning how a gun shoots isn't going to do you any good if you don't know how YOU shoot. That's also why it's not a good idea to choose a gun based on brand. Don't get me wrong. If I had the money for a Sig and it fit my hand I'd dropped $$ for one faster then 6 little friends can run. I ended up with an XD45. Not my first choice but fits my hand like a glove. I shoot IT, it doesn't shoot me. Make sense?

Well I mean some guns shoot flatter than others and s**t. Some come out of the barrell high and some bullets drop quicker than others.
You might be kind of pointing and shooting, but if you're aiming for a tiny area you need to know what the bullet's gonna do out of the barrel.

That's where the "fit" comes in. Nothing to do with practice.

If it doesn't fit it's going to have a different POI. It's not the gun it's the human factor.

You do have some point though. There are factories out there that set up there guns to shoot with a 6 o'clock sight picture from the factory. BUT...with that said. Even if the gun is sighted that way from the factory it's still on human factor because a 6 o'clock sight picture for you is dead-on for me.

How do You shoot the gun?

Instead of putting guns down because of the punks terrorizing you, learn how to use one and defend yourself. The only reason it's happening is because your government has taken away your to defend yourself and turned you into a door mate.

An armed society is a polite society.

What good comes from guns? I don't know...why don't you ask my sister since I was the one that grabbed a gun and bumped back at what went bump in the night by her window.

I wish I had a link to the articles about gun owners with their concealed weapons permit that they put in the magazine "American Hunter". I'd totaly probe that good can come from guns. I mean, if someone were to break into my home and try to steal from me, I'd for sure want a gun to protect myself. I don't see how outlawing guns would work. Criminals would just get guns ilegally and the good innocent people would be unarmed when they need a gun for protectin from criminals.
