Getting tired and pissed off with this caring.
took aunt and uncle to Dr.s for their flu jabs this morning, got all riled because aunt could hardly walk, couldn't park the car close to the building either.
I'm frankly amazed their still with us, this time last year we were worried about uncle not making his 60th wedding anniversary.... 5 months ago he had pneumonia and the Dr. said its only matter of time....
I'm regretting the choice to stop working and become their full time carer, anyone thinking caring is easy (like I did) think again... | |

Mega Über-Meister 3766 points | Yeah, I agree with the others. It takes a special person to be a carer. You must be special .
Are you getting any support, as from what i know, carers also need support. Is there a carer support group there that you can join? Get together with a group of people who do the same as you? Just to socialize and have a break.
You also need to be able to have time to your self.
So make sure you look after you as well. |

Not really
aunt goes into day care 5 days a week 10-4 which helps.
I shouldn't moan, theres always someone worse off than yourself as they say. |

Monk 35937 points | I never realised what stress carers are are under till I needed one.
Everyone always thinks of the elderly person or disabled and forgets about the people in the background doing everything for them.
It's a thankless job that you're doing Kas but you do it any way. You have my utmost respect and admiration |

Über-Minister 17522 points | Awe... Kas!!! That is so great of you!!! Caring for elders is rough tho. You need to have a support system for you with that. Contact the local agencies around your area, see what is available for personal help. Not full time, just enough so that you have a little bit of professional help to deal with this. Good luck and keep it up, you have a heart of gold |

Meister 1008 points | You do an amazing job!!! From what we've talked about you having to do its more than some 'professionals' would be able to put up with. You do much more than a lot of people could ever do. I have been a carer and I understand some of what it's like and how it grinds you down and wears away your patience and sensitivity. I'm sorry I don't have any answers for you... just really wanted to say I think what you do is f**king brilliant!
