Mega Über-Meister 4727 points | What a Weekend! July 01, 2008 @ 12:41:53 pm 0 Kudos | Glastonbury was AMAZING!!
Black Kids, Vampire Weekend and Biffy Clyro were, I unashamedly say, immense! They really got the crowd going, even in the rain for Vampire Weekend's set. Decided to see Kings of Leon in the end, and although they were good and I made friends with 'Dennis' the dinosaur, I still would have preferred to see Pete Doherty, still, majority vote and all that. Mark Ronson was a lot better than I expected, although Lily Allen was in a bit of a state, she didn't even know the words to her own song! The ickle duckies I decorated prior to the festival have now been shared with the world! I gave one of them to a clown in the cabaret field, and he held it in his hand looking almost saddened to have a mod duck The other one I gave to a lad who had obviously been on the Blackthorn all day up in the Green Field and was so grateful just to have a small plastic duck, he was almost giddy
There were also a couple of 'aaw' moments, most notably walking through the congregation that was Leonard Cohen's audience on the Pyramid on Sunday, thousands of people singing 'Hallelujah' to each other, absolutely beautiful. Another was watching 'BitterSweet Symphony' by the Verve from our tent and watching a solitary lantern floating up into the sky, a very poignant ending to my very first Glastonbury.
The only regret I have about it all is that I didn't know The Last Shadow Puppets played the Park stage until afterwards, they were one of the special guest acts, would have been brilliant! Well, that and that my friends and I didn't go to the John Peel tent early enough to get a good spot for the Ting Tings, couldn't really hear them from outside the tent. Still, was soo much fun and there was hardly any rain, meaning not much mud thankfully, though just enough to make squelching through it all quite fun
Cannot wait until next year! Reply |
