September 15, 2008 @ 12:57:18 pm | This morning I got up, went into the kitchen and made coffee. Or so I thought. After I started the coffee maker I went outside with the dogs so they could do their thing. I took out the hose to wash away their morning “things” and was soaked. The handle on the nozzle is apparently broken. I was sprayed all over, top to bottom. Sigh, back into the house for my coffee. Ummm, no. I’d put the coffee and water into the maker but had failed to put the pot back. I had coffee all over the counter.
Not the best of ways to start the day and yet, I’m in a fairy good mood.
Oh and our front sidewalk is being repaved (I can hear them out there now) so I’m unable to exit or enter the house via that route. To get to my car I’m going to have to go out the back, around a fence by the water and double back. What fun, eh?

September 05, 2008 @ 08:06:06 pm | So first Hannah gives a little scare, but passes by us, thank God. Now freaking Ike. Ike makes me a wee nervous. At first it looked like we were right in the center of the cone of possible landfall. So ok, we get ourselves in order, just in case. Now the damn thing looks like it's going to swing south and hit the west coast of Florida. I'm in SE FLorida, my son is in school in SW Florida. If it doesn't get us, it gets him. Grrrr. And I gather there's another one out in the Atlantic right behind Ike. I LOVE south Florida. The rest of the year it offers a great climate, but man hurricane season sucks.  17 comments | Reply |

I'm grateful we're only getting the outter bands and not the storm,( I would be seriously freaked if I were NO right about now) but still...would've been nice to have a wind free, rain free holiday weekend. There's another storm brewing that is threatening to mess up next weekend's weather as well. It's a little disconcerting. The sky is constantly gray. The air feels heavy, like it needs to rain, but the rain only comes in bursts. Icky. I never used to be bothered by the possibility of hurricanes, but a few years ago we just got blasted by storm after storm. The power would get knocked out for days at a time. Grocery stores were nearly empty and running on generators. Was very uncomfortable. Ever since then I get hinky when I hear a new storm has formed. So, while I'm bummed by this weather and will bitch that it screws up my tennis, I'm seriously grateful these storms aren't headed right at us. 1 comments | Reply |
