Public entry Sad Day
May 08, 2008 @ 11:15:26 am
Today's going to be a sad one.
Rest in peace, Michael.

On Saturday my niece's fiance, a 24 year old Marine who just got home from his second tour of duty in Iraq, was killed in a freak accident. How do you survive war twice and then get hit by a f**kin train...makes no sense. My heart is broken for her and his family. The funeral is today..it's going to be difficult.

that is sad accidents never make a scrap of sense, it always feels as though a person has been stolen from us. I guess when they come home from a tour you think "YAY! they are safe, i can stop worrying" his family have all my symptathy.

That is so sad. They made such a daring couple too. I'm so sorry for the loss and no it makes no sense whatsoever and that makes it even harder for those who are grieving for him.

thanks everyone for your kind words. . I've been to many funerals but this was by far the most difficult. I think sometimes moms share some kind of emotional bond. Like how we all turn to look when a kid calls out mom and all the moms in the store turn. Not that dad's don't . . they love their kids deeply too. it just hits you to the core to hear a mother's gut wrenching cries. I couldn't survive that.
