she stopped instantly. she never turned around to see if i was coming, just stood there watching the water splash against the giant rocks and rage up 50 feet into the air. when i caught up to her, she took off again, with out a word.
i turned back, saw that the rest of the family was out of sight, then watched Kitty dash down to the water's edge. the water should have been frozen it was so cold! she let it come to her knees.
"aren't you cold?!" i asked, amazed at such a skinny girl's ability to with stand the water.
"no." a girl of very few words. she turned back around, hopped up a few rocks, then sat on her knees in the silky soft sand and stuck her fingers into a tide pool.
i came up to her side. "how come you're so quiet all the time?" it had finally got so annoying, the quiet from her. i couldn't see how such an amazing person could hold back so much. she's one of those people that you think you know, and then you figure out you never knew them at all, and probably never will.
she looked up at me. her look made a sharp pain rise in my heart. her eyes were dead. lifeless...
"things just... happen." she looked away, concentrating on a little bug skipping the tide pool's surface.

i know it's long, but it happened. she hasn't spoken since, accept for when we were at the restaurant afterwards. some teenagers were taking care of a Mentally Ill person, and then they vanished behind a building, leaving the person to stand there, pacing and smacking himself. that made Kitty mad, so she glanced over at The Man (our mom's boyfriend) and said sharply, "that pisses me off."
she's very mysterious; she intrigues me so much! some times i wish she would talk more, just so that i could feel more brotherly to her.
