As promised, I am now going to wright a review for this book that I have heard so much about, both good and bad.... Oh, and please be aware I might spoil some things, so for those of you who have not read the book, I would consider reading it first... Unless you dont like being suprised, then by all means I first heard of this book at a bbq, a friend of mine was telling us all how... out of touch with reality it was. And how he hated the book. And to be honest, he was right, its out of touch with reality, but in its defense, I'm pretty certain that it was MEANT to be that way, I'v never realy gotten it to romance novels, but I'm pretty certain that thats about the same, its always a fantacy. Ok enough of me criticizing the genera.
Time for the book , I found my self staring at a pile of books in borders, not knowing wich was the first in the series and (as most men) to afraid to ask directions, I sifted for a half hour to find the first book, Twilight, and, like the Borders troll that I am, I sat down for 6 hours and started reading.
The first two chapters, were... nessisary I guess, but thay made me think, "Why in hell am I reading this" then things started to pick up pace, the real story started to unfold. An iteresting girl by the name of Bella (Isabella but she liked being called Bella) tells the whle story from her point of view, she meats a charming young man by the name of Mike, and then instantly rejects him, for what reason I have absolutly no idea, I guess its just because she gets to meat an even better "perfict" guy, named Edward, who as it turns out is a vampire, the book it filled with all kinda of fun romance, and then about halfway threw, you will NOT be able to put it down.
Life is happily ever after untill... New vampires come to town, one of wich decides the Bella looks like lunch, so the second half of the book involves much... erm, if I may quote the book, "hide-and-seeking"
Over all, I dicided that I liked the book, and I might add, I will be reading and writeing reviews for the other three as well, its a great novel and if you can make it past the first few chapters, you will not be dissapioned.
Please feel free to tell me what you think, but please no flames

Monk 36862 points | | Yeah, I pretty much was the same. I'm on the 3rd book right now. It's taking me a while to read it since I've been so busy, but it's a good read. It's not really the kind of book I normally read and I see several flaws in it, but I'm just taking it for what it is. A decent read. |

Monk 32290 points | Yeah, It's total romance book. But for the age level, high school, there was a heck of a lot of sexual tension and chemistry going on with the Bella and Edward. And it's the type thats going to be unfulfilled for a while so hopefully the writer can keep it up, with out falling into the "Moonlighting" trap.
I did get a little confused at times and had to go re-read cause I missed something important that made the next scene not make sense. But I can't be sure if that was her writing, or me being distracted.
I would have liked more description and detail, but I think that is just that it was a "young adult" book and told from the first person. Of course most of my favorite vampire fiction is Anne Rice stuff. Anne totally gets into the description...although at times it is too much.
The "vampire mythology" behind it was an interesting one, and it makes me wonder how it's going to be handled in the upcoming movie... especially that reaction to sunlight, and the change in Edward's eyes.
All in all I liked Twilight a lot, and look forward to reading New Moon. |
