Batman is lost in a cloud of special effects
Mmmm, where to start? Well, the most over the top Two-Face is depicted here, and he's not even evil, at all. He seems like more of a comic relief than an actual villain for Batman. All he does is flip a coin and do a random act of crime, and then leaves the movie for a while, then comes back and does something "evil". I don't get it, what's his purpose? Why is he there? I know he wants revenge on Batman, but what drove him to insanity, why does he choose to be a bad guy?

The Riddler, on the other hand, does better. Jim Carrey works his hardest to be, well, Jim Carrey, and it turns out that's what he needed to do to be the Riddler. But he too comes off as more of a relief from the constans romance between Bruce Wayne and Dr.Chase Meridan, which goes nowhere.

Now, it seems like I'm not giving enough attention to Batman up to this point in the review, right? Well, that's what the movie feels like too. We never get enough of him, he's only there to fight villains and create drama that leads to a fight with the villains. Like his love interest Chase, why is she here again? Answer: to set up for the climax, filled with eye candy. It would give you a cavity if it were real candy.

Overall, this just goes to show that a movie can be fun if you only look at it effects-wise. The movie is fun enough to keep you glued to the tv until the end, and the action is full of incredible stunts and explosions. Just don't expect a nice, character driven plot with heart, plot, and romance. It's more like a villain driven plot with effects, action, and more villains.
