here's an idea... a writing contest... but no real prize... just write a story, not insanely long... finishing this intro... we can just kind of discuss which is best... just for the sake of it...

k... here we go...

There was a complete peace all around her as she sat at the edge of the pool, dangling her feet absently in the crystal waters, watching the ripples stretch out and faded away. It was a perfectly serene fall morning, just her swinging her feet, the birds singing their songs, and the golden leaves floating lazily to the ground.

pretty open-ended... take it where ya will... see what comes out of it...

She sighed deeply and leaned back, tossing her hair dramatically over her shoulder.

"And... that's a wrap!" Someone yelled. "Thanks, cutie."

She smiled dryly up at her director, who was standing over her grinning widely and smoking.

"Don't call me that."

Sorry... it's probably kind of annoying for you that I went off on a totally different track...

Well, yeah. That's that. ^^;

She hoped he was listening this time. It's not like she'd never told him that before! But, no... Already he had moved on to the other girl; the one who actually LIKES it when the Enquirer calls her a "starlet".

There are two rules for success: 1.) Don't tell all you know.

A gentle breeze blew through her golden blonde hair, causing it to sparkle in the sunlight like a thousand diamonds. She knew that this would be her only moment of peace for the day, likely the rest of her life, but she was content with that; she didn't have much longer to live anyway.

She could almost feel it attacking her own body; a malignant cancer that could only spread and kill. She had been diagnosed only hours ago, with a life expectancy of less than a month. How could it have appeared and spread so fast? But she didn't become a recluse. She didn't let it take the world away from her. Her insides were black, but she was still beautiful.

She stood, giving a soft sigh, and almost reluctant to return to the house. But she knew that they needed to know. She had accepted her fate in that small moment of peace by the water. Now all she had to do was help others to accept it as well.

Set me free, your heaven's a lie...

Was there a reason to cry? If there was one no one knew it…not I, not him. All around us there seemed to be death. Can there be such a place? The answer? Yes. There is no reason where most people that have to witness death regularly to feel anything for one ordinary person that died. But this person was not an ordinary person. This person was our father. Would what they were change whether or not to feel? You would think so, but for my brother and me there was no difference. To me there was no difference. He was just an everyday person that was in my life that died. They are all saying that we are numb, we don’t understand what just happened, other are saying we are in pure shock. I am not. My brother I am not so sure of. But either way I will remember what his last words were to me: “There will always be a reason for everything; the hard part is just finding that reason. Don’t forget a reason could be anything.” I shall never forget, I cannot forget. Those words were the last thing I heard in my life.

Just something that I wrote
