You'll notice that all of these things also have the happy side effect of saving you money.

Switch out incandescent light bulbs for compact fluouesnt lamps (CFLs) or LED lights.

Drive less

Drive a more fuel efficient car

Drive less aggressively

Fly less

Draft proof your home

Install a low flow shower head (low water flow = less to heat = less energy used)

Insulate your home

Use low-e window coatings to lower your usage of A/C in the summer

Plant trees around your house. Shade can significantly lower your A/C use. Trees also offset CO2.

Turn lights off when they aren't in use.

Turn off the tv, dvd players etc when they're on standby.. or is that just to save electricity?

You forgot my favourite way.

Fart in a jar and save the gas from going into the atmosphere.

There are several things you can do:

1. Sign up for green energy with your local power provider if that is an option in your area. For example, I have wind power through my local provider, Con Edison.

2. Use energy saving lightbulbs.

3. If you own your home, use a natural gas oven instead of an electric one(unless you are using non-fossil fuel energy).

4. Join a large environmental group to put lobbying pressure on your government to offset the lobbying done by the oil and coal industries.

5. Ensure you have energy efficient appliances(i.e. do not accept a ten year old air conditioner from a friend instead of buying a new one; the new one will pay for itself in one summer on your electric bill)

6. Plant some trees. Trees absorb Carbon Dioxide (the leading Greenhouse Gas) and give out Oxygen. They also look nice and can bolster the value of your property if they are placed properly and you know how big a certain tree will be when it is fully grown.

7. Vote for people that do not have ties to the oil or coal industries.

I only think that would work on a large scale. The move "Mad Max:Beyond Thunderdome" comes to mind.

We should probably all contact all of our our local members of parliament, all of our local house councils, all of our congressmen, and ask them to introduce new laws in every country we live in to promote anti global-warming technologies, practices, regulations.

If we do not do this, things will never change. Because everyone knows that global warming is bad, but it is governments and large industries that get the job done.

Grow your own veges

Buy organic products where possible

Try and buy things with as little packaging as possible - and if it can't be avoided try and reuse or recycle

Make your own compost or use a worm farm

Use cloth diapers instead of disposable ones

Carpool or take public transport to work - or walk, ride a bike, telecommute

The list goes on . . .
