Oh if you have a mac or linux OS you should not need a virus scanner cause they don't really get viruses

I personally use ClamAV, or ClamWin if you have windows, and it is the best one I've used. I dislike Norton products because they seem to take over your whole system and require your permission to look at your monitor.

Norton is more trouble than it is worth.

I have always used Zone Alarm Security Suite. It is easy to use and protects against spyware and viruses.

You should also download (free) Spyware Blaster and Ad-Aware.

I agree that Norton antivirus requires a good deal of operator input to run well. I do not use it myself because of that. It is however, if set properly, one of the most effective antivirus programs available.Incidentally, the uninstall program for Norton does not completely remove all symantec files. A Norton removal tool is required. Initially Norton did not have that tool available from their support site. I used Avira for the Windows XP and when I started using Vista , Avira did not have a program that would run under Vista, hence I moved over to AVG and now Avast. AVG works well but after reading one of the posts here on TFS about AVG and its inner workings I changed.

My pc got really infected recently, almost got to the point of scrubbing it, tried AVG, that didnt work, tried avast, that semi cleared the problem then I put on SuperAntiSpyware, worked instantly. never had a problem since. Dont use Adaware, that puts more crap onto your pc.

I Recommend using AVG anti virus free, download that, then avg anti spyware, then avg anti rookit. Then its basically the equivalent of a normal anti virus

If your looking to buy, Kaspersky Internet Security, Or Nod 32

NOT NORTON, useless idiots
