I used to be quite fat back from year 5 to 9, weighed 85kg at one point when I was only 170cm. Lost it pretty quick doing runs and eating healthy, stunted my growth through puberty doing this and combined with weights.

Now I don't mean to brag, but I look pretty dam good through all the sport and weights and eating healthy i've done. but the abs. they just aren't coming. there's the outer lining of them, and it's obvious there's something under them, but i'm in year 11, 17, and just can't get them f***ers out.

so i was doing loads of runs and eating right and steady, lots of ab excercises. so the works. looked at all the advice for over two years but nada. so what can i do?

You won't be any healthier, nor will you have a six pack, but you would have time for more important things.

Some people just cannot get abs. I used to lift for 4 hours a day, plus cardiovascular and martial arts, I spent anywhere from five minutes to 30 minutes doing crunches, leg lifts, etc. and no abs. I had a build like wrestling's Shawn Michaels or Triple H and neither of them have abs either. It may not be what you want to hear but not4sale probably gave you some good advice.

yo, plain and simple what you need to do is set a schedule of healthy diet and all different cardio exercises. Try Jogging every morning before you go do what you gotta do, eat a lot of fruits and drink water throughout the day and in the evening for maybe 2 times a week, do crunches, situps, jack knives bla bla. Keep ya routine up and you'll be more cut than gothic people's wrists. no doubt.

For the life of me, I can't get abs. I have the lines but nothing else. And although I have a very thing waist, I have alot of fat on my stomach. Someone told me that to get to abs, that is all diet and exercise and to do hundreds if not thousands of ab crunches a day......

Everybody has abs...it's just a matter of how much fat we have covering them. Lets say person A is overweight, and does tons of ab exercises every day. Person B doesn't do ab exercises at all, and yet his abs are much more defined than Person A.

You MUST have a variety in the exercises that you do for your abs (and not just three or four different kinds of crunches either). Try some different forms of cardio. I myself have noticed an improvement in my stomach (veins starting to pop out) from doing yoga... I haven't done a standard crunch in a long, long time.

This post is quite old but in case anyone is wondering the reason he found it hard to get the six pack was most likely because he had a layer of fat cells covering them.

This is common for people who have been overweight in the past, especially as a child.

Your body stores oils in it's fat cells, it burns these oils for energy. The more calories you consume the more oils and energy you'll carry in your fat cells. As they fill with oil these individual fat cells get bigger and bigger. Making you look pretty fat.

Eventually they'll be full and in order to store more energy your body will begin to produce new fat cells, younger people and kids are especially prone to this. After you loose weight....
Which is essentially burning off that oil contained in your fat cells you are generally left with the same amount of fat cells, this is pretty much constant, they don't go anywhere.

So someone who has been overweight in the pastmay have burnt off all their stored fatty oils but are still left with many more fat cells. This isn't a big deal but it would interfere with getting a very visable 6 pack.

It's also a contributing factor as to why we all have different body shapes, our fat cells are distributed differently.
Now, there's a bit of science for you all.
